Black textures

I bought bioshock on steam and after my "bioshock.exe has encountered a problem and has failed to start" error was somehow fixed, my game now has many black/ dark dark iridescent gray surfaces such as most ceilings, floors, basic walls, water, and the stairs on the lighthouse in the beginning. I've tried updating my cdd, installing the hotfixes, and nothings helped, but im not sure if the hotfixes installed properly because when the hotfix is installing and reaches 100% in the install it goes to the catalyst install manager and starts installing something. I have steam so fixing the shortcut to run in dx9 goes to a different address and if i do add -dx9 to the end it doesnt do anything. Please help.

The driver you are currently using are not the most recent so it woudl seem there is an issue there. Here is a link to the most upto date drivers just to make sure you are installing the correct ones.

If yo wish choose the display driver under option 2 this will only download the display driver and no other software.

I dled the fix, and i installed it. after it was done with the small box dling, it just closed and went to the catalyst install manager to install something (im guessing the fix??) and at the end it said Installation Complete. and there were no problems during the process. im not sure if thats whats supposed to happen.

and yeah if it did install it didnt fix the problem.

To run the game in DX 9 mode right click on Bioshock under the My Games tab in Steam and choose properties.

Then choose the set launch options in the text box that appears type in -DX9

Then click ok and try the game again.

that worked, thank you very much. i'm just wondering if the hotfix installed, and if there is any way possible i could do something to be able to run it in dx10 with my video card since the there is a great increase in graphic effects, and if not, if 2k recognizes this problem and may fix it. if it is only for my specific video card i understand it is not a widespread problem and would be a waste to fix. thank you again.
