Seeing how all unreal engine games seem to have problems with vertical sync (other that GOW), is this going to be a problem with bioshock?
I recently downloaded the "Hunting the big daddy" trailer from marketplace and it seemed to have mad screen tear problems. Please calm my nerves, this sorta thing really takes me out of the game ![]() |

I'm certain it's not in the Xbox version either.

I had similar concerns about screen tearing and a helpful chap on this board directed me to later trailers taken from the 360 version which clearly don't exhibit the problem. Check out the gamespot e3 stage demo or the fisheries demo in HD on gametrailers.com

the actual game lets you disable vsync if you like, but it's on by default. we didn't use vsync at the time of the big daddy video, if i recall correctly.

It's short for Vertical Sync. Google it. Short of that, it's basically the refresh rate of your monitor. If the timing between the refresh rate of the monitor and the video card frames on the screen, it'll look like the image is 'torn'. If it's enabled, the game will stick to a certain frame per second. If it's disabled, it'll push the frames per second as high as it can manage.
