There's Easy, Medium, and Hard.
+ Easy is really easy, intended for people new to FPS games or people who just want to blast through the game and enjoy the story without dying too much. + Medium is the basic "default" setting intended for people who play FPS games casually. + Hard is, well, pretty brutal. It's intended for hardcore gamers and people who want a serious challenge. You can also change difficulty at any time without exiting the game or restarting. (Note: this may, however, invalidate existing progress towards difficulty-related Achievements on the 360 version) I would hazard a guess that most of the people on this forum should be playing on Hard or at least Medium. Unless you're.... you know.... scared? ![]() -Chris Kline, Lead Programmer, Bioshock |

I'll play on Hard the first run-through.
It's just more intense. Makes you feel like there are real concrete descisions to make, and you have to be much more careful about how you handle Big Daddies, etc. If there's like a Very Hard option, I'll probably save that for my second playthrough, as I'd rather avoid any frustration with my virgin run. |
