Completion and Relationships.
Question 1:
Can game completion be achieved using weapons only or will the player be forced to genetically modify themselves in order to progress forward at a certain stage? Question 2: Besides the Little Sister/Big Daddy relationship, are there any other social interactions between the inhabitance of Rapture beyond killing each other that the player may be witness to or become involved in? |

1. You may have to modify yourself slightly to progress further into the story (some scripted sequences). However, if you want to use guns for the most part, you probably can.
2. There are some characters in BioShock that have not gone insane. These people will interact with you. There are also audio logs throughout Rapture that will explain some social interactions. Some splicers even seem to work togeather. |

When I first heard about Bx, I thought that whether or not you plasmify yourself was an important plot aspect, like saving/harvesting the LSs. Now I realise that, in fact, the plasmids are basically the sugary, crunchy icing on the cake, and it would make the game less fun to play without them, so the devs made it so there aren't really any drawbacks (except spending Adam).
I'll probably play through once using only weapons and hacking skills, just to say to Rapture, "I can keep my humanity if I want to!" But it'll probably be on normal mode (not hard), and I might never finish. Also, I remember reading a review/preview about a month ago that said you needed certain plasmids to progress eg. use incinerate to melt a path through an ice-filled tunnel. If I do have to use plasmids to progress in this way, then in my all-human no-plasmid playthrough I'd just use them when I had no choice. But Ken said it's possible to go totally unplasmified in all but 1 circumstances, so I'm happy, if a little confused. ![]() |
