It's good of 2K to at least say that they will make sure we can always use our game. Some companies don't even do that. But think about this. When a company is going out of business funds are usually very tight, staff are leaving and the last thing on their minds is to try to ensure past customers are going to be able to play games bought long ago. While I'm sure you have the best of intentions it isn't realistic to suggest that a patch will be released for old games.

It’s very optimistic to say your company will be around forever, and I honestly wish 2K Games the best of luck in surviving indefinitely. Personally I would like to see something in the EULA that provides us paying customers a guarantee that a DRM free installer will be released for both the disc based game and the DLC. Preferably in a reasonable and specific time frame. Like 5 years or something.
Ideally I don't want to have to worry about DRM at all. Especially the limited install kind that infests the DLC packages. DRM should be invisible and non-restrictive to paying customers while only preventing thieves from playing something they haven't paid for. The problem is that current DRM software doesn't stop thieves very long, but it remains a potential roadblock to paying customers. Last edited by Xastabus : 01-18-2010 at 06:40 AM. |
