3.19 patch problem

I was just getting to the end of a beyond the sword game, (after months), when the black screen of yet another crash came! Very annoying. Would the new 3.19 patch help....no. I've installed it but now the game won't start up giving a runtime error message for C++ (whatever that means). Is anyone else having this problem and/or do you have any solutions? I've restored the computer back to a pre-patch date but the game gives an error message when booting up. Thanks for any help.

uninstall BTS and then delete the folder called BeyondTheSword from c:\programfiles\firaxisgames\civ4\bts or wherever it is

I had the same problem yesterday after removing and reinstalling the game and on the second attempt removing the bts folder before reinstalling fixed it!
