Could you please include southpaw and legacy support?

I am a big fan of Bioshock and have played the 360 version through several times. I had an immensely enjoyable experience and Bioshock now ranks as one of my favourite games of all time. However, the only reason I was able to play the game and enjoy it was because I had a modified southpaw controller. I had previously tried to play the game with a regular controller and found it impossible. As a left-handed gamer, I just cannot control a FPS with a right handed stick layout.

I was very much looking forward to the PS3 version. Challenge rooms, trophies and an extra difficulty level were enough for me to want to play through it again. However, I do not own a modified controller for my PS3 and as such, I am unable to play it and therefore unwilling to purchase a copy.

I am not the only person who has had problems with Bioshock's control scheme. The is a large community at http://www.alt-controls.com who were also affected by this. Not everyone is as lucky as me and has a modified controller.

By omitting alternate control schemes you are effectively preventing 7-10% of your potential audience from playing the game (Approximately 7-10% of people world wide are left handed). There are also right handed gamers who simply prefer to use southpaw and legacy controls.

I am asking 2K to please release a patch that includes support for alternative thumbstick layouts and preferably the ability to map individual functions to each button. I would assume this is a relatively easy thing to do, and it would be in your best interests, as this would allow a greater number of people to comfortably play Bioshock and enjoy this amazing game.

You are not the only one that shares the sentiment.

I agree, I am not left handed but in this day in age it seems like a common sense move.

I found your post well thought and polite which sadly is a rare thing sometimes good first post!

I sent a private message to 2K Elizabeth as soon as the trailer for part 2 came out. She says it's still too early in development to implement or really discuss yet. So, at least the idea is in their heads. The long thread complaining about the first game wasn't lost on them hopefully. I still haven't played the first one as I can't play 1st person shooters without southpaw, but I'd be interested in playing the second one if they'd include the alternate controls. It's a shame that myself and quiet a few others missed out on the first one...

Still not too late for patch 2K if your still listening!

FarCry built a patch for the xbox and I bought it as a result...
