CoR community podcast 1 - Elizabeth Tobey interview

Since the community podcast is shaping up quite nicely, I am happy to announce that our Elizabeth agreed to be interviewed in the CoR Community Podcast 1, which will be on air in the next weeks.

For more info about the podcast, look here.

Please put in here some questions you like to get answered by Elizabeth about herself. She will not answer here, but I collect the best questions for the interview. You may also send in questions to andre-mackowiak@freenet.de .

I can't wait for the Podcast I want to ask something aswell for it but I don't know what exactly to ask.
Edit* You should ask her if they are thinking about the idea of a Comic or Graphic Novel based on Bioshock, maybe before Bioshock because that question wasn't answered by anybody in the Board and alot of people was thinking it is a good idea.

dude this is sweet i agree with splicer ask her about the LS personalitys and other LS related questions they seem to be the hot topic int he forums as well as the most recent podcast being about them

    Exclamation

Those questions would all be more suited to being asked to Irrational. Elizabeth is the community manager, so while she may know the answers to those questions I think it would be silly to dilute the focus of the podcast with random questions. You'd best steer the subject of discussion towards her and the Cult of Rapture.

What is her background? What kind of games is she into, what other interests does she have? How did she come to work at 2K, and how did the Cult of Rapture come to be? What things has she done for 2K in the BioShock campaign and what are her day-to-day duties? What plans does she have for the site and its members? What can we expect to see in the coming months before and after the game is released?

Edit * I got a Better Question then my last suggestion for her "How did she get started in her Career, and How did she end up working for 2K Games?"

    Questions for Elizabeth

What was your first impression of Mr. Levine? And be honest! Unless "he really just seemed like a normal guy" is honest -- in that case make something up. Something to do with cyborgs!

Is Bioshock the most exciting title you've worked with? If not, which one was?

2KE: How do you deal with trying to be a friendly embassador to all of god's creatures on the bulletin boards when fanboys are uber-annoying and nit-picky? Do you take criticism of the game personally or are you secretly convinced that everyone will be pleased in the long run?

2KE: Seriously, (and I mean no offense by this) how come they let the "community manager" play the game? If you are to relate to the community, wouldn't they want you in the same boat as us, questioning and wondering? ~ or did they think it would give you the ability to answer some questions and guide our reckless imaginations toward actual gameplay, etc.?

2KE: By your own description in some "Play" on-line thing or other, you don't seem to be fond of first person shooters. In fact, you seem to suggest that this is what boys were made for. Has Bioshock changed your opinion in that regard?

I'm curious to know what other tasks she has besides looking after the 2K forum.

    How about things like:

What is the thing you like most about your job and why?

What is the thing you like least about your job and why?

How did you come about the title of, "Mom"?

Overall, how has your experience been interacting with the public? What were some of the good highlights? Can you name a specific example? Conversely, what were some of the bad one? Specific example?

You have a unique perspective into the gaming world, what are some things you think would surprise people (The public), and why?

What are some of your other interests besides computer games and the industry?

What are some of your favorite games, present and past? And on what systems?

(I think she memtioned CIV so...) When did you first start playing Civilization, and what about it caught your attention? What is your favorite to play and why?

Favorite: Books, movies, songs, etc. Why?

Any other new exciting projects lined up that you are/will be involved in? What are they and what peaked your interest about them?

Are you getting a free version of Bioshock that the whole staff has signed? And if so.. can I have it? Pretty please?

Do you still plan and hanging out on the boards after Bioshock has been released? Will podcasts continue? Are you already involved in Bioshock 2?

How do you spell: Mississippi? And how many i's are in Mississippi?

    Peace,
    Cor

Would she prefer to be called 'Rapture Mom' or 'BioBabe'? Or maybe neither, or maybe 2KBeth, or does she like Liz or Beth or just Elizabeth?

What are your cat's names? What kinds are they?
Were they strays, and if so, would you feed me if I followed you home?

Well, what can I say, I've read a little about flirting— some articles, a few books, a few short films, a 12-disc e-course, etc.

    props to rapture_tourist, awesome idea!

ok, this is an embarrassing one (at least for here):

I want you to ask here, if she knows this little video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fvYNOoF1kW8) and if she likes it, or not.

remember kids, this video marks the beginning of "Cult of Elizabeth" (according to tourist).

Uh-oh. The guest of the podcast is able to peek at the questions. Now she'll have time to think up answers for them. You'll have to think up some surprise questions to throw her off. Its always interesting to hear people respond to those kinds of questions.

Hence, the more serious tone in all of her podcasts from that moment on.

Naw... We're not trying to, "Roast" Elizabeth here, just trying to get a better idea of her as a person, and her role in 2K. And, perhaps a little history and insight into what it's like to work in the gaming industry.

I've always found the podcasts with Ken L. to be very interesting, but they always leave me wanting to know more. Then again, I'm also interested in the industry in general, so this stuff is like gold to me!

    Peace,
    Cor

Aww, why not? Roasts are fun. Anyway, on a more serious note.

Did she go to college? If so, where and for what?
Is what she is doing her dream job? If not, what is?
How long has she worked for 2K
What would be her dream position to hold at 2K?
How did she get introduced to games?
Was she always interested in the industy?
What are her thoughts on the future of the industry? (For example, what she thinks the industry will be like in 10-15 years)
Does it actually feel like a job running the Cult community or is it something she really enjoys?
Does she only log on while on the job or does she "take her work home" and commune with the community after work?
If she was trapped in Rapture, what would she do to survive? Would she kill the Little Sisters or take the high mortality road and save them?
Is 2K your first job in the industry? If not, where else did you work?
What is your favorite animal? TV show? Book? Movie?
