The particle effects sound particularly fantastic since it means pistols, shotguns and machine guns will all have appropriate impacts on surfaces. For instance, pistol shots will splinter windows, shotgun blasts will…well, blast holes in wood, and machine guns will chip away at concrete
    That sounds awesome!

Impressive pics. One thing I don't see though is motion blur. You'd expect the parts that are being blown off by explosions to be blurred.

Hope system requirements woun't be bigger than GTA IV. I am bearly able to run episodes from liberty city on high with decent frame-rate...

Graphically on PC this game is a beast, APEX clothing is real time cloth physics and deformation, you'll need a good rig to get that working in tip top shape as true to life real time cloth physics has never been done this way before in an actual game. then the crumbling wood e.t.c and 3D vision, simply amazing

Yea, I absolutely think Mafia II is phenomenal on the PC version.

It is sort of like how Mafia I was in it's day when it really was a masterpiece. It was a huge step in openworld gaming. And with Nvidia's Physx, It appears Mafia II will be another masterpiece.

On the G4 article, The previewer said something about shooting holes through clothing and hats.

I am not sure if Nvidia's APEX supports that type of system, But If it did that sounds fantastic!

cool man. short and sweet. i love how the people have a real weight in their bodies. it's something you dont normally see in games. usually they're too jelly-like and bounce around. mafia II has that down really well.

DO NOT CHANGE THAT VIDEO CARD!!!! I have ATI to,but i will not change it.What u see here is pure marketing .Like gta IV,i played on my 9800gx2 and graphics errors were with tons. And when i played on 4870x2.the game run smoothly(even on the back of the game case says"nvidia its meant to be played") and with better graphics quality. Anyway,i feel sorry for nvidia, really i do,they are so behind the ATI video cards, their latest video cards run extremly hot,and a lots of power consumption(and their price is above the sky). I also feel sorry for this game, because is gonna be optimized for nvidia video cards, they shouldnt not doing this,to all the gamers see what is nice,but...money talks.

The thing is that i got the vaporx for 347 (it normaly cost around 400 in France),and the GTX470 is supposed to be slower in nearly everygame, expect metro 2033 with dx11 and tesslation,GTA4 and far cry 2.But people tell me otherwise, people (on the web) who actualy used to have an HD5870 and now an GTX 470 tell me that the GTX is faster in games and in uniengine ect....
I can send my card back and take the GTX 470 for 390 (tonight last chance, have to send it tomorrow)
For 50 euros more i can have:
-More power or less (riscky, depends on who tell the truth, test site or owner of the card?)
    -More power comsuption!
    -More °C ^^

-Physix (don't care about 3D vision)
    -Better dx11 + tesslation performance.

In GTA 4 i get bad FPS,in every other games,it runs really good!

Yea, GTA IV was poorly ported to the PC. It appears RockStar had no care on the PC version of the game.

GTA IV, On a ATI 5970, Runs a flat 29 FPS!

The game was terribly ported to the PC, I hope this isn't the same case with Mafia II.

Yes GTA IV is very poor optimized for the PC.What nvidia trying to do is a marketing thing, with this physx of theirs) because they are way back with the performance and the price.So.... (sorry my english).

It's clearly a technical marvel, Mafia 2 on PC will have the most detailed and realistic physics driven procedurally generated world, looking forward to it.

and an authentic atmosphere that made you feel like were a big-city mobster back in the Roaring Twenties
more quality journalism how hard is it to check dates on Wiki & the rest reads like an ad for 3D Goggles

    interesting stuff about APEX though.

Yea, It's all an ad, But it is very insightful.

The reason for it, Is because Mafia II is the biggest title that Nvidia has this year.

If you thought 2K, Was gonna advertise the hell out of Mafia II, Wait until you see what Nvidia does.

I decided to keep my HD5870,it is a very good card, don't want to spend 50 bucks more just to gain Physix and to loose some performance.

    Anyway,i have an 8800gts 320 on a box right now,don't know if i can put her on a 1x pci-e slot just for Physix because i have only 1 PCI-E x16?
