Could moderators here please learn what a 'mod' is, and is not?

Recently posted in response to a request for mods for BS by a 'moderator' here:

    Am I really that bad?!

Also, there's about a half billion other threads on this subject. I'm sure if you took the time to actually look for them, you'd be able to get your answer. We already have at least one finished one...

    No, we don't.

Modifying the ini. files on the PC to alter spawn rates and so forth, is NOT making a mod. Its called alternative randomising, nothing more.

    To answer all the interest:

    1) 2k licensed the rights to a SDK with the engine - indeed, they also modified the SDK to their own unique requirements, as enabled under the license
    2) Epic have no problem selling the SDK with their games, and buying the rights to the UT3 engine allows a company to release a SDK
    3) 2k have decided not to release a SDK, mainly due to negative pressure from MS, and the Xbox live content delivery agreement
    4) Epic are under legal action over the updates to their UT3 mod tools; however, this has no bearing on whether a third party publisher releases their in-house tools with their game

So, cut the crap. We're never getting decent PC mods for the same reason PC players have to fix the widescreen, the 2.0 shaders and so forth on their own. Mainly because MS / 2k is counting on gullible Xbox live sales of totally worthless additions to the game.

*shrug* Please try and grow up a little moderators - not all of us are still sweet 16.

    Ok, it was a joke.

Also, do you get some sort of sick pleasure from constantly harassing me?
    How do you, indeed, benefit?

Why is it O.K. to insult me? Am I not a member?

Sorry, I've never insulted you. Lose the persecution complex, and please re-read: nothing in that post named, insulted or otherwise derided you personally.

As for harassment, I leave that to moderators supporting trolls in serious threads, its not my business - and sorry: I simply am too old to care about some moderator on a forgotten forum that the company in question has chosen to ignore. My message was simply a clarification of fact: there are NO] mods to BS atm, and never will be - there ARE community made bug fixes / graphic fixes / randomiser fixes, but these are not mods. They simply improve the product and/or allow it to be used on systems that the dev team has willfully ignored. I expect moderators to produce fact, but if it is needed for the mod community to point out the disinformation, so be it.

If you missed the point: this isn't about you its about the many hundreds of people in the mod community (hi TTLG peeps ) who have seen promises and hopes squashed here - by a company that once was pretty damn cool about allow mods to re-vitalise their games.

There are NO mods for BS, and there is unlikely to EVER be any. Hold out for a decent product for that, mod community.

i'm closing this thread because insulting moderators will not be tolerated. i'm sorry if you are upset about the lack of a mod toolset, but simply, harrassing my moderators is not allowed.

they moderate these forums for free, people, because they love BioShock. cut them some slack. they are doing you a favor.
