A speculative question I know,But who can we trust in rapture?
Atlas to me seems far too keen to assist us in removing all the little sisters in Rapture,whats his motive? I'm not buying his whole story of just needing a rescue..theres something not right about him....
And Tenenbaum,the reclusive scientist,what does she have to gain from our help? my feeling is that one of these paths has a very dark sting in its tail.....;) also,as KL has mentioned Fight club has had an influence on Bioshock,which leads me to believe that one or more characters may have dual identities.Could Atlas,in fact be Fontaine for example?
Good brainteasing stuff!

I will trust the little sisters :)

It used to be, that I thought Atlas was the trustworthy one, as Tenenbaum was the one who creathed the LS, and thus would lie, manipulate, ect. to save them. But now, I'm slowly moving to the Tenenbaum side of the argument, although Atlas sounds the most sane/trustworthy... But I agree that someone isn't telling us the whole truth. ;)

what was wrong with Nihil's post splicer?, he was just saying that he would not trust anyone, which is just responding to this thread, now you know i think that you are a cool guy but that is a very valid response to your question its not up to you how people reply, and i have to agree with him, i dont think i will trust anyone in the game they both seem to have their own agendas.

Sorry lurch,but it gets to me when posters openly admit to not reading the actual topic before responding,but i do apologise,for not making that clear.;)

Have to go with Atlas on this one, (the adds/boards in some of the screens do say that "Atlas was right":D ;)) And I wouldn't trust my life with someone who was involved in the Holocaust. But I have to agree, we're not hearing the whole story from anyone.....

If I remember right, Atlas sorta sticks with you and helps you along the way. So, if he comes across as a nice guy who is trying to help you do whatever it is you are doing, then I might follow him. However, I don't think I have it in my to kill the LS in the manner that has been described in some arcticles. Plus, supposedly, the LS thanks you for freeing her... which isn't really what Atlas or Tenenbaum want, (Atlas want you powerfull, to help him, and Tenenbaum want the LS left alone (right?)), now is it? So, even though he may have been joking, Reaper114 makes a good point! :D

Hopefully with all theses options at hand, there will be more than two possible endings.

Well here's how I see it...

First time going around, I'm going to want to play it safe and save the Little Sisters... then once I beat the game, I'm going to want to go through it knowing which upgrades to get for my guns and such (knowing the areas and what's best), therefore I'll harvest them

but to answer the question about which one to trust? depends on their voices... whichever sounds friendly i'd have to trust

If no one in Rapture wants to be my freind, them im sure the enrage plasmid will be more than enough for a trustworthy relationship. But if that dont work, i have a feeling that my 12 guage can be very persuasive.

Its all in that fight club reference, so far everything we've heard from Ryan has been automated..

Its going to be a stinger for sure

Indeed. Not one of them is trustworthy in the least. But, if in that situation, I'd have to trust the guy helping me along, at least a little bit. So Atlas on my first playthrough. Though, not enough to kill the Little Sisters for him.

there i read it, happy splicer? i'm so sick of this everyone in the forums usually bugs me, but thnx lurch, anyway i decided i'm not buying the game i'm broke anyway once missed paycheck and i'll be homeless, so i can't afford getting a game anyways espically if the people in the offical forums including the mods like 2k elizabeth are going to be rude, i have tried e-mailing her twice and entering the haiku thing still noting about the themes cause she seems to hate me or somn after one stupid innapropriate post, even tried being nice to her no response, so if someone who works for 2k is like that i don't wantthe product, btw i always thought 2k was one of the worst, i never thought they would make a good game untill bioshock came along... too bad, but i doubt 60$ will make a difference to them.

you can be sure that no mod or Elizabeth is rude to you if you are polite too... if Elizabeth didn't respond she could have too much work at the moment.

Atlas is almost certainly someone else.

Take a look at all of the story telling devices in System Shock 2 and how similar they are to Bioshock: audio logs, recent catastrophe, ghosts, and, don't forget, an all seeing narrator/guide, "helping" you along - and we know how that last turned out in SS2.

Atlas is also telling you to do things the "bad way" - namely sacrificing humanity and morality in order for you to become more powerful - in order to survive in Rapture. His story seems fishy, too.

Atlas = SHODAN.

I will trust in myself, anyone from Rapture seems too much insane to trust. But this uncertainty it's so amazing!!

Atlas = SHODAN.Actually, Ryan is your Shodan; He's the main antagonist. He's the one with control over the city.

Atlas = Xerxes?

I just mean that he serves SHODAN's role in the game - SHODAN at first appears as an ally in the guise of Polito, then, later on has her/its true identity revealed as an enemy.

I don't trust Atlas for a second. If he is just a "fisherman", what's with all the "Atlas was right" graffiti? He's clearly up to something. Some preview stated he was one of the causers of the civil war. I wouldn't be surprised. The guy is probably using you as a pawn to take over Rapture, or worse.

As for Tenembaum... well... shady past aside, there can be no harm done on saving kids... could there?

When the only people you can trust are a mysterious "fisherman" and a former Nazi scientist, paranoia doesn't seem so implausible after all.
