I read Richard Matheson's novel and this in no way looks like his original book. How disappointing.

I want to read the book, but the movie should be keeping true to that somewhat. (you know with him bieng the only survivor and everyone else bieng a blood hungry mutated freak)

They're not mutants, they're vampires. The book doesn't take place in any city, it takes place in suburbia and frankly I don't think Will Smith is the best actor for this role. I can already see them changing the ending to fit a more "audience friendly" conclusion.
Wag of the finger hollywood. Wag of the finger!

Yeah. I highly suggest you read the book before you see the movie as the movie may spoil elements that come off stronger in the actual novel.

i watched the trailer. it made little sense. how does only one man survive what appeared to be just a few icbm's hitting some bridges?

also, frigg'n quicktime made my vista go into basic display mode, and its not coming out of it now. :( oh well.

LOL you're funny. No the plot of the movie is a killer virus kills (well kinda kills, zombie vampires are pretty much dead right?) everyone, they blew the bridge to try and stop anyone who was infected from leaving the city. Guess it didn't work.

The plot of the book is much better, trust me. In the book the guy is alone in his house after everyone has seemingly become vampire like creatures. Each night the vampires (many of which were former neighbors) try to coax him out so they can kill him, but he is able to hold off their advances. The book also goes into science vs the myth. The main character begins to leave his house during the day to study and eventually destroy the vampiric creatures and in doing so discovers interesting traits of the undead. Then more mysteries arise when he finds another survivor. It is really a great book. Matheson is the master of desperation in fantasic and odd situations. "I am Legend" was actually the inspiration for George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead."

i like that plot better. reminds me of the class 4 outbreak in the zombie survival guide. :)

Looks terrible, much like the new version of War of the worlds.
They already made a decent film out of it (The Omega man) so why make this one?

I've seen something like this before, me thinks.

Why oh why did they have to do I2/I4/07? That's just stupid.

I'll end up watching it though, definitely.
Hmm.. maybe I'll go get the book too.

Looks ok, I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic settings so I'll see it on the big screen for that. Plus, I do like Will Smith as an actor.

Matheson's I AM LEGEND is one of my all time favorite books, it is just too bad that no one has made a good movie adaptation. (Omega Man was just plain sad...)
