Why 2K... why?.. Why make a game so beutifull, so genuine, so unique, but so buggy !!

This game is like the most deliciuosly moist and scrumptious cake in the whole wide world sat there on a plate just in front of you, but its wired to a car battery !!! every bite zaps you in the face !!

i know im to blame.. its all my fault.. i didnt save my game for a whole 4 hours, i was too engrossed in the story, in exploring.. i picked my moment in fort frolic.. i found the big daddy, i set up my ambush, BOOM i killed the big daddy pretty quickly with a combination of chemical freeze, insect swarms, and armour piercing machine gun bullets, i was feeling pretty smarmy with myself.. i choose to save the little sister, didnt need adam that badly at the time.. just as i come too, theres another big daddy, so i do it agin.. set up my little ambush.. only this time !! OMG i get trapped in a corner !! smack smack, dammit im resurecting... im getting right back into that fight.. i go searching again but WTH!! as i open a door in the freezing chamber the big daddy i coming AT me.. still .. red mist in his eyes !! ZAMAGAD!!! i retreat back into the cold room, nd send a swarm of insects at him so i can recover my thoughts.. i switch to electric gel and give him a good zappity zap, but what is this??!!?? more screams?? OMG !!! 2 big daddys??? how? where? huh?
both of them at almost half health.. i switch back to nitrogen, and freeze one, and send another insect swarm at another, i blast the frozen one with AP bullets, and its just enough to kill it, but the one in the swarm is angry now.. BOOOM a big bolt of lightning fills my screen .. and.. then.... it stays there... hanging... the sound is glitching... the graphics have frozen... WHAT?? it CANT BEEE !!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo o!!!

damnit damnit.. when was my last save??? PHEW an auto save at the entrance to fort frolic... SAVED!!!.. but what is this??? .. the save game doesnt load?.. there has been a problem and Bioshock has to shutdown??? Report the error??? but why? how? ... /cry .. ok ok so when was my last manual save? ... waaaaah!!! it was 4 hours ago in the farmers market !!!!

OH - MY - GOD !!!

Moral of the story ? Dont forget to tap F8 often, Especially on the PC version. Im off to retrace my steps like the kid from back to the future, but in the meantime - 2K please make a stability patch - hope you enjoyed reading my misery !

Even on my 360, which isn't as prone to lock-ups as a PC can be, I save everything I do something "big". Just killed a BD, time to save. Just hacked 3 difficult machines without using an auto-hack key, time to save. It sucks that you got sent that far back. Just remember to save often. Saves don't cost money, ADAM or junk, they're completely free, so use them as often as you can.

I didn't get a lockup once, but I was playing on my 360...twelve hours straight, zero problems.

It's not cool that the freezing and not loading thing happened, but the getting ganged up on by the Big Daddys has to be one of the funniest things I've read on these forums in a while, priceless.

Just so you know for the future when using insect swarm. If you kill the enemy or enemies they are attacking before they are finished bothering them they WILL go find something else to harrass. So, using insect swarm can be pretty dangerous sometimes. They are like a AOE attack and sounds like you just got unlucky with 2 "mr. bubbles" in the same spot.

Sorry to hear about your game crashing to that sucks.

damn, i still havnt been able to progress...

when i try to ply it from the farmers market, i get all the ingredients needed for the stuff, but when i try to go BACK to the level that i have to put the stuff in the machine ..... Bioshock has encountered a problem after the loading screen.

every single time i try it.. doesnt matter.. the save game loads, but i cant zone into the new area coz it crashes.

this game is about as stable as juggling balls made with nitro-gliserine !!

nothing happened to me. And I played 11 hours straight the day I got it?

This far I've only had 3 or 4 CTDs. What disturbs me is that everytime it happens I either have to delete one file before restarting or setup the game again. Why is this, there is no logic why the game must do this.

I've beat it three times and never had a problem other than...

ONE TIME I threw an enrage and they just stood there looking stupid at each other... So I was forced to blow them away with a shotgun.

Other than that, no glitchs.

I agree it's pretty buggy. I haven't had an actual crash to desktop yet and I'm on my second run through though. I can't run the game witht he bioshock.exe file though... I have to run testapp.exe to get this game to load. It's gay and it doesn't save your settings.... Only in game bugginess I've gotten is some wierd lag wheer instead of it just dropping FPs and going slow... I'll hit a to strafe and then when I'm out form behind my barrier I try to launch a rocket at a BD only to find.... I strafe 20 feet to far into a wall and shoot a rocket point blank into the wall in front of me... it's good times lol

Mine doesn't save settings, but I run bioshock.exe... Hmm... Gay, I also have to redo it all, Fort Frolic is the only buggy place that's been a problem...

wow, what os' are you guys running? I'm in Vista and it couldn't have played better. Not one crash, error messages, nothing. The only thing i noticed was when i used alt-tab and then tried to go back it wouldn't go back tofull screen mode but play in windowed mode.

The way you fix that is by restarting your computer. Man, always try that kind of thing, because sometimes background processes don't get shut down when games crash.

All your save games will still work. Just restart the computer.

No problems so far with the 360 version, no freeze, no stutter. Looks amazingly gorgeous aswell if you unlock the framerate and are playing on a decent telly.

Also i never run the game with Folding@Home running, and that's been know to mess with a few other games i play, so that could be a problem.

Haha the insect swarm thing happened to me to pretty much

I used it on some splicers cos I had literally an 8th of a bar of HP left, just gonna stock up on med kits from the vending machine

Turn around to go to it, little did I know, big fat daddy was about to ram me straight in the arse

Needless to say, I died. And Laughed

hey heyy.. took a while to get back, but i sorted the problem.. if your ever having problems trying to load a saved game, or enter a new zone turn down all ur graphic settings, and put the game on min resolution (800x600) and then try to load it.

worked, and i finally managed to beat the game since i had no further problems with it

awsome !!!

I've had all good thing with my 360 Bioshock, except once, but as a gamer it's a general rule that you sould always assume your game can crash at any moment, and save often accordingly. even on the world's most perfect machine an EMP bomb could dentonate in you city, forcing down your game no matter how much batteries you have.

Moral of the story: Save Often!

I've played through twice, maybe 25 hours total, with absolutely no bugs at all.

It's possible that you have some weird junk running in the background, or that your install is faulty.

I'd back up your saves, uninstall, and reinstall. See if that helps.

Actually WAIT.

Don't uninstall without checking if it's possible to reinstall. SecuROM has been causing problems I've heard.

My 360 copy was flawless. This is why I don't PC game anymore. You have to update your graphics card every week.

Dionysius

Yeah, ditto on that. Flawless on 360. Not to mention the obvious bonus that you don't have to worry about whether your system is up to running your new game: you already know that the game comes optimized for your console, and isn't going to clash with anything you've not/got installed.

Consoles: keeping gaming simple. :)
