Well, they did say that once the Big Daddy procedure occurs, there's no turning back on it. Unless there was something special about you, since you never really did do the grunts, etc. during the final boss fight.

You don't fully become a Big Daddy. You get the suit, scent and sound but you arn't graphed in like the other Big Daddies were.
