Seriously.
No proper widescreen.
Copy protection that completely SUCKS.
I was going to buy this game, but now I have cancelled my pre-order....for real. Until these issues are resolved and you don't hate me anymore.
Better yet....BT.

2k Games and the team for Bioshock is working their assess off right now... They aren't sipping tea on a hillside, pondering around looking for daisy's. They're working on a solution for your issues -- as for some of the issues that can't be addressed, then you'll just have to wait a little longer.
It's bad news, but it's the truth.

The real kick in the balls is how this anti-piracy protection won't work, it never does. But the customer will still have to put up with it for the next decade.

Because Take Two hates anyone who uses a computer. They just wanted to ruin your day. All these years of funding for BioShock have been mounting up to make you angry.
Why else would they make a game?

They're on VACATION. They said so themselves! They won't be back for a week.

I played System Shock and System Shock 2. Just thinking about them gives me the willies to this day. Two of the greatest games ever. This game... Been waiting for it. Been waiting for it. Been waiting for it.
Not going to buy it.
I don't mind the bugs. I don't mind the bug hunters on vacation. I don't mind reasonable copy protection. But I'm not paying to install malware (Securerom) on my computer. And I'm not taking my anti-malware software OFF my computer to install this game.

My thoughts exactly. I have the option of purchasing the 360 version but: a) I'm a fiend for keyboard/mouse in FPS games and b) I won't purchase it on principle alone. I don't know why a statement has not been released about this yet. The industry forums are ablaze and if all the big journalists weren't at Leipzig this would be on the front page of all the sites. This isn't a little contingent of self-entitled nerds going on a rant, this is a huge portion of the educated fanbase telling 2K to F-off.

Im sure nothing we say can change anything. To those that have bought the game they already have your money. To those of us who refuse to buy the game because of securom we must all be pirates who want to steal food from their babies mouths (When the majority in fact are potential buyers who just want fair use of this great game).
Look at any number of forums and you will see just how bad this issue has gotten. But I doubt they see or care, you can tell just by looking at the forums.

I asked about Securerom here:
http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6006
And got a response that it doesn't install anything on your computer...
I'd disagree, but I've run all three of my anti-virus programs (I'm crazy paranoid) and none of them have detected anything...
Any more info on the topic of Securerom would be great.

Rebelpheonix made a topic showing a the file securom has put on his machine, apperently he was unable to get rid of it. I really hope youre right about this being as important as I think it is, that sounds stupid but its soo disheartening to be told you an idiot, or a child or a pirate just because I feel I should have some rights

I have to go to work (%&!@&), but I'll post something that may help with that...
Google "Move On Boot"... it's by a company called GiPo. It deletes ANY file before Windows finishes loading (only if you tell it to, of course). I've gotten rid of a LOT of files that will NOT delete (even if I started in Safemode!) with this program.
I think I might end up doing this with the SecureRom files.... sigh......

Here's my take on this, I don't agree with copy protection, the reason I buy
games off of steam is because steam in and of itself, already has built in
protection, therefore, I shouldn't need to worry about other copy protections,
right? Wrong!, if I had known that the steam version of bioshock was going to
have a extra level of activation/protection, I would have held off buying it
until this was resolved.
The ONLY people that 'get burned' are the paying customers, most
companies need to keep their paying customers happy to do more business,
but when it comes to computer games/programs, etc, the companies involved
just assume we are all pirates & hackers. They have made up their minds on
this, the only way I see to change this, is to not buy any copy-protected
stuff, but then of course the companies will blame 'piracy' for that
problem instead of admitting the truth. Probably the best that can be done at
the moment is to wait for the 'nocd' stuff before buying the game you want.
Just my 2 cents worth...

I'm hoping that there are record numbers of cancelled pre-orders that force them to stand up and take note. +1 here.

If you read the other post you will know the developers ARE NOT working to fix your problems. They are all on vacation.
They may fix our problem and they may not.
First, If they are already making money off the 360 version why you think they will care what happen to the PC version? They already get their money from all the game retailer. we need to beg the retailer for a refund but 2K already "taken the money and ran"

Er dont forget the pixel shader 2.0 issue. The last STEAm survey showed that half their users didnt have PS 3.0 cards. Add to that the fact that is is clear now that the higher PS 2.0 Radeon cards can play Bioshock at very high settings at a decent framerate (see unofficial patch thread). They cut us out for no reason whatsoever except a few tiny water effects. Clever!
