Demo fails to launch - NO error

When I launch the demo, I get an hourglass for about 5 seconds, Bioshock.exe is in my task manager during that time, and then it just stops with no error message or anything.

I've tried the latest WHQL drivers and the Beta drivers. I've tried reinstalling the game from 2 separate sources. I made sure my DirectX is up to date, made sure the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 was installed.

System specs:
Win XP
Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 2.13GHz
2 GB RAM
7600 GT 256 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Solution found!

I added the -dx9 command line parameter and now the demo starts up. It's really odd that this is even necessary since I'm running WinXP.
