I have no idea what could be causing this. I'm using a fresh installation of windows, and I installed the latest nvidia drivers as prompted with no problems. I haven't tried running any other games yet... BioShock's all I have installed. Portions of the game run fine, but black flashes on the screen, periods of total blackness (some of the intro movie) and these black squares that pop up everywhere are making it impossible to go forward. I tried turning on and off all the various settings with no changes.

It maybe because your memory is only 512mb recomended is 1gb

I copied that from nvidia's specs, it's the memory for my video card... I should have specified that...

I have 2gb DDR2-800 in dual-channel.

Looks like overheating video...

If not, maybe go back a driver version or get the new nVidia drivers.. are they out yet?

Overheating can cause that?

Hm.

I guess now's as good a time as any to install another fan...

I really don't think it's an issue of heat. I turned the gpu's fan up to 95% manually and logged the temp and it never went past 65C while playing Bioshock, and the black box problem still plagues me. They're everywhere. I can play a couple of minutes - occasionally - without seeing one, but inevitably, if something interesting happens, they appear and start multiplying. The cut scene after you get your first plasmid, where some splicers and then a little sister appear over your barely-conscious body, sees a ton of 'em. The intro sequence is black-box-heavy as well. I'd offer more screen shots but it's just more of the same...

I checked my memory with memtest86+ and it checked out fine, also.

Could it be something else? Is this just a problem with the game? I am inclined to think it's a problem with my computer since I've had trouble with graphically-intensive games lately - odd glitches and crashing - but I can't narrow it down...
