You should always always check system requirements before buying a game and on the system requirements of this game (on the website, forums and box) it says it requires an internet connection for activation.

You could probably take your pc over to a friends and get it online, activate bioshock, then you should be good to go.

yeap Checking before I buy is exactly what I'm doing now.
I did read about the internet connecting being required but hoped there was another way of doing this (maybe use my work connection to get required keys etc). I guess I'll not be buying this one.
