PC demo on Steam keeps crashing

When I play Bioshock with the graphics at medium @ 1024x768 it keeps going to a black windowed screen on the desktop. It does this at random points in the demo. Has anyone esle had this problem?

PC Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500
1GB RAM
Geforce 6800GT lastest drivers
