Here is the problem. The game runs fine but a number of the textures are just black. It appears mostly on floor textures and those of NPC's. For example, when walking up the steps to the lighthouse all the steps and platform are black, but all the other textures are visible. I can see the form of all the NPC's but the textures are black, everything else looks fine. Has anyone had this problem and have you had any luck finding a fix. My system is all new hardware and should easily be able to run this. Thanks for any help in advance.

My system specs are:
Vista 32 bit
Athlon 6000 X2
Ati Radeon 2900 XT most recent 7.8 driver version

I have a X1600 Pro with the 7.7 drivers and have no graphical issues.

So I suggest you try the 7.7 drivers or better yet, these new Bioshock hotfix drivers (http://www.ngohq.com/news/11829-ati-catalyst-bioshock-hotfix.html).

Be sure to uninstall your current drivers before you install any other drivers.

I have exactly the same problem on my comp. Everything looks fine, until you get to the lighthouse and then the textures on the floor and some parts of the wall are completely black, I thought it was just dark, but nope, when the lights start turning on inside the lighthouse parts of the floor light up, but not all. I'll try the Bioshock hotfix drivers though to see if they help at all.

I have an ATI Radeon HD2600XT, AMD Athlon 64 5600+ 2.8Ghz, 2Gb Ram and an Asus M2N-E SLI Motherboard.

I have the same problem: black squares, or black areas that keep blinking.

Myself as well. Game worked great on an 8800gtx and then I switched to 2 Ati 2900xt cards and started developing these black/dark splotches.

WINDOWS VISTA DRIVERS/INTEGRATED ATI VIDEO CARD DRIVERS

1. Download the display driver from ATI.
2. Double-click the installer and let the installation fail - all we needed to do was extract the files.
3. Go into the Device Manager and expand the Display Adapters by clicking the "+" sign. Right-click on your adapter (there should only be one) and click "Update Driver Software." Install the driver of your choice and do not let Windows search for it. Click "Have Disk" and go into the folder where the drivers were extracted - the default location is C:\ATI\Support\[driver name - something like "7-1_xp_dd_40211"]2KXP_INF.
4. Choose the "_CX" .INF file and click OK.
5. Scroll down and find your graphics card.
6. Finish the installation by following the wizard.

If when installing drivers you get any messages regarding testing or similar, always hit "Continue Anyway".

I couldn't find the _CX.inf file, but it worked when i chosed the CL_52185.inf file in the C:\AMD\ATI_8.401.1_BioShock_HotFix_Vista\Packages\ Drivers\Display\LH_INF directory.

This is for laptop user, but it might be usefull for others.

The only problem i had after doing this, is that the game freezes, but the sound continues to work. So then I'm back at not playing the game, but the dark areas are gone though.

I use the HP Pavilion HDX 9050
My specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz
2048 MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 XT
