You probably have already compiled ideas and i doubt you're gonna take me too seriously but there are few thing i beg of you.
Please don't dumb down (water down) the game, keep it real and serious, keep it creepy and tense.
If Perer Jacksons District 9 integrated mindless action with substance and made millions of dollars, so can you. (make your publisher aware of this)
About the game/concepts (don't read if you don't want to):
-people find micromanagmet tedious, that's because it's not properly presented. example: instead of equipping every soldier (clip per clip) for a generic mission, make adjustable AutoEquip templates (which experienced players could custumize for that added tactics factor). Don't trash the whole equipment procedure, it was one of the most amusing thing for veteran players.
When it comes to micromanagement help the newcomer, cause once he get's used to it he'll appreciate the added customization. This could be applied to most micromanagement aspects of the game (soldier stats, base building,...). help the newbie, don't trash it for everyone.
-personally i'd like it to be a remake, since the x-com series is nearing the limit of possible stories IMO. But specific plots can be enriched and the game would greatly benefit from modern technology. It would be nice if you kept to the canon, but i wouldn't mind some changes...just KEEP IT REAL!
Oh and multiple endings are nice.
-turn based/real time, don't care...i like both. personally i'd like to see a SWAT 4 based tactical aproach, but that's up to you.
-about the general content in the game...i wouldn't mind if it stays the same, but not less.
-since you'll probably be fighting aliens...you can keep the gore level up. but make it count for something (shot placement).
-there are many things i could list...but all i want is that you keep to the general guidelines.
oh and...use Steam
