If this has been posted previously, I apologize for the re-post...
And just so this doesn't become a potential spoiler, I'll just ask this:
Did anyone else see that coming????? (thread title reference)
I got to the end last night, just kinda sat there in shock, and said to my roomie "You have got to be %$!&%$ kidding me!!!!!!!!"

You never knew!??! It depends on what you did to the little sisters. Did you harvest them all, save them all, or... I can't remember how to get the third ending. I have never in my life harvested a little sister, but i've seen all the endings on youtube.

two endings are pretty much the same though. Just different tones. If you save some, and harvest others then you get the disappointed tone. Harvest them all you get an angry tone. And save them all of course gets the good ending.

I've always thought the good ending is the best one.

I harvested a few towards the beginning, then decided to start saving all of them. Guess I got one of the "disappointing" endings...

Did splicers fly out of the water and sink a submarine?

Try to rescue the Ls because the ending will be more rewarding. I can never seem to harvest any little sisters, every playthrough I rescue, can't find the heart to harvest them.

The bit where you walk into the room and it says "WOULD YOU KINDLY" was freaky as hell, plus the bit where you kill Andrew Ryan was absolutely epic. I sat staring at my TV for about 5 minutes after that
As to the actual ending, i don't get your problem?
It was a pretty good ending i thought, it wasn't too soppy, it wasn't too abrupt, they left it open enough to make a number 2 but didn't make it too vague, all in all it wrapped up rather nicely and left room for a sequel. I just hope they have the same idea about BS2

There's three endings, actually. If you harvest one or two little sisters and save all of the other ones, you'll get the good ending. You'll also get the good ending if you save all of the little sisters, of course. If you harvest more than two but save a few also, you get the bad ending but Tenenbaum sounds sad more than upset. If you harvest all of the little sisters, you get the bad ending as well but this time Tenenbaum is VERY upset and angry at you, you can tell in the tone of her voice. Hope that helped.

I harvested three LS and started saving them after that, and the ending was a bit of a let down for me. :/
So as soon as I finished it I started a new game, and saved them all.
The good ending is so much better. :)

Yeah, the good ending makes me feel good. Lol. I always feel terrible when I harvest a Little Sister. I've only harvested once out of my 29 playthroughs. :p Lol.

lol I only harvested because it was what Atlas wanted, and my goal the first time through was to make Atlas happy. O_o

Lol, yeah the first time playing I wanted to make Atlas happy too, but I felt too bad when I harvested that first LS. After that I saved every one of them. Only time I harvested was when I was going for Brass Balls; I needed all the ADAM I could get to be strong and get through to the end.

Ooo. I've been playing on PC so I dunno any of the achievements yet.
I was promised a 360 for my b-day, so I won't have to hijack my parent's computer every time I need my fix. ;]]
What exactly is the 'Brass balls'? O_o

Brass Balls is a achievement/trophy you get when you complete the game on Hard difficulty with vita-chambers turned off (aka never using them). But you can still save the game at anytime.

It's an achievement that comes with the DLC on the 360. Like Ureh said, you have to complete the entire game with the vita-chambers off. The DLC also gives you the option to turn them off. Hopefully you get your 360 soon. Don't forget to get the DLC, though, and get all the achievements. :)

So what happens if you die during that time?
Do you get a game over or what? D:

For Xbox 360, I believe you get sent back to the main menu. Then you reload from the last saved game (that's why if you think you'll be dying alot, you should also save the game often).
For the PS3, it gives you two options without returning to the main menu 1) load last saved game or 2) return to the main menu
Basically if you have a save file you'll only have to restart from where you saved recently.

It's okay, it happens to the best of us. -pats back-
My step father just lmao-d when I got to the twist, since he had played the game a few times already, and I had spent all that time talking about how much I loved Atlas. D: My heart broke.

Brass Balls is a little tough. Well, until you get the crossbow... then it gets very easy.
Look Alive.

I rarely use the cross bow. I only use it for the trap bolts to kill Big Daddies
and that's it. I dunno, it just doesn't feel very affective.

It does, but the crossbow is most effective when killing from a distance. Doesn't always work in a fight. I really do like the crossbow, though.
But anyway, back on topic.

i got the good ending on my first play through.
i wasn't disappointed by the content of the ending...
just disappointed by the cutscene itself.
i was left wanting more.
compared to what was (in my opinion) the most awe inspiring game opening ever...it felt a bit lacking.
but with a game this great...i'm not complaining. :)

Does anyone else see a problem with the good ending? In the good ending it shows the little sisters growing up, getting married, and having kids. Then at the end it shows Jack and the sisters in the hospital VERY OLD! But Bioshock 2 takes place ten years after the events of the first one. See where I'm going with this?

I don't get what you're saying.

That has been discussed quite a bit. So most of us know what you're saying:
Jack is still alive.
But from what I've been told, he will not be making any physical appearances in the second game. Only in memories, flashbacks and "footprints" he left behind on his last trip (eg: Ryan's body, Big Daddy corpses, etc).

I'm saying that Jack could not have possibly aged that much in ten years.

who said that the final cutscene only took place 10 years after the Fontaine Battle? and even if it did, Jack was only 2 yrs old when he returned to Rapture and looked like he was atleast 25 or 30, Suchongs Age progression may have never stopped and he continued to grow at an accelerated rate until death

Actually, Jack was two years old when they sent him topside. He wasn't aging rapidly so much as growing, as in muscle and things of the sort.

I don't know if he kept growing that rapidly though. At the end of the good version, he's old, and all the little sisters are grown up. He probably just wasn't interested in becoming involved with Rapture again when the Big Sister showed up.

But I think that's him on his death bed in the good ending, isn't it? His old hand goes limp, so that's the only thing I would assume of the clip.
