The only solution I have for you is try, try, try! Because you can't die, the damage you did to the splicers or to a BD are still there, so you must run to him again and kill him. Only a hard and long dedication will make you get all achievements.

Yes. My husband discovered this when he snickered at me for not playing on hard and took over to show me how a man plays a video game and was thoroughly pillaged and plundered by that same splicer. He persevered though.

Haha. You should try survivor. I almost got killed by the first splicer on survivor. Anyway, my advice to people who are having a hard time is this: Always aim for the head. Also, With some practice it's pretty easy to dodge thuggish splicers' attacks. Also, when you get the research camera, photograph every enemy and machine you see until you've researched everything completely.

Despite whatever I say, I will come off as "That Guy" who just thinks he is the messiah of gaming. But Hard Mode was actually too easy for me. The ONLY problem I had was fighting the bid Daddies, but once I got the Crossbow and Trap Bolts, even that became easy.
My suggestion is to dodge and hit, dodge and hit. Wait for them to come at you, fight before they hit Go Back and either Right/Left, and hit him in the back twice when they are recovering from their swing.
Also, I don't know if you knew this, but there is a Secret Achievement called "Brass Balls". You have to beat hard mode without using a Viti Chamber. But you have to make sure you turn them off in the options menu, because if you die once and respawn in 1 you will have to restart all over.

Learn to sidestep! That first Splicer is good practice for it. Also, Electro-Bolt and then a wrench hit will be one of your best attacks throughout the game, and it will save ammo. Telekinesis is also probably one of the most effective attacks in the game, as long as you have big objects or explosives laying around. I would skip the first Big Daddy in MP and go back for him when you're stronger, unless you think you can beat him, I've killed him without him touching me just by sidestepping. Always stock up on special ammo, it's very helpful on hard. For Rosie's (what I had the most trouble with on hard) I would save your Electric Gel to use on them, and shooting corpses with Proximity Mines, and then launching the body at a Rosie is really effective. Also, I know it's cheap, but if you're low on supplies and you need to kill a Bouncer in Fort Frolic, just lure him over to Eve's Garden and jump on the stage, he can't get you up there, and you can unload on him. I would also rescue all of the Little Sisters, it really pays off in the end, and, why would you want to harvest them anyway? They're so cute! :D
That's all I can think of right now.

The game actually gets easier on Hard mode as soon as you beat the first few sections. I found the first area the hardest. As soon as you get a plasmid or two and a few weapons, it becomes easier.

Welcome Area and Medical Pavilion may seem difficult, but it's only because you are low on variety of weapons and strength. By Neptune's Bounty, everything will begin to even out and simplify. :D

Hardest for me was Neptunes Bounty, that was murder! Once I got past that I got through the game pretty easily, besides a few of the Rosie fights.

Yeah the Rosie was definitely the hardest part, but side-stepping around big objects helps a lot. Their rivet guns do too much damage for the small amount of health you have at the time.

I agree, the first Rosie I fought in NB right in the Mush area between the 2 turrets in the beginning, brutal!
I finally did it once the Splicers were dead. It seemed every time I hacked a turrent some angry splicer came along. So By the time I was about to fight the Big D, I was low on Health, Money, and Eve.
Took me a couple tries, but in the end, Prox. Mines, Gas Tank, and Lots of Armor Piercing rounds did him in.
As I said and others too, once you get past Arcadia, it's smooth sailing. Well, NB is in my Opinion harder than Arcadia, but those Houdini Splicers are evil when you get ambushed by 1 of them and another splicer or 2.

Oh! I thought of something else that really helped me. The security bullseye plasmid works really well on big daddies. You can get the security bots to kill it and it never gets mad at you unless you attack it directly.

Like others are saying learn how to dodge attacks. Also make sure you loot and find everything and if you cant hold anymore ammo or health packs etc. remember where you left them so you can go bck and pick it up later if needed. Hack everything, even med stations, photograph everything, and above all if you are trying to get the brass balls achievment save alot like right after a fight.
Actually the thuggish on hard can't even kill you if you just stand there and keep hitting hitting him as fast as you can, you'll always come on top. Dodging his hits just guarantees that your health won't go down (which doesn't even matter since after you splice the electro-bolt plasmid your health completely recovers).
It's the one on survivor difficulty that can totally fry your bottom if you don't move.

The PS3 version has a level harder than the hard level.

Hard wasn't too bad, just pick your battles wisely, aim for the head, and research.

Thanks for the info. But wow.

The only difference is that if you don't move, he'll kill you really fast. But if you dodge all (or most) his attacks you should be fine.
After Neptune's Bounty, the game starts feeling like hard difficulty again. But the first two stages are worth playing to experience the extra challenge.

My "wow" and the eye rolling is that PS3 again gets something extra.

I'm still bitter about the PS3 exlusives, pissed me off so much when I heard about that. I don't like exclusive DLC, even with the GTA4 dlc I felt bad for the PS3 owners who couldn't play it.

I just think that is crap. What one gets, the other should too. Most people I know don't purchase 2 systems, they buy 1 which has the game they want most. So basically these foolish companies just **** themselves.

The Rosie at Neptunes Bounty was a bit of a struggle!
I did find a method against one of them.
When you go upstairs after meeting Peachy and first encounter that Rosie, plant some prox. at the doorway. Then piss him off and run downstairs. Make sure he follows you to at least the top of the final flight of stairs down, and hide under the floor at the bottom. Hide under the solid part of the floor, and move out under the grated floor occasionally to shoot him. This worked well for me, despite it taking forever.

Sorry but... "Arcadia" not "Arkadia"... You said you're not in the the America's, right? Because "Arkadia" would never look right here...

The wrench is always my favorite weapon to use on hard, it helps conserve ammo, and it's so fun to use! I would use the Electro Bolt/wrench combo and Telekinesis as much as possible, and use your special ammo on the Big Daddies.

Definitely Wrench Jockey and Sport Boost 1 & 2, Wrench Lurker is good too if you like being stealthy.

Obviously, the wrench jockey and sport boost tonics, 1 and/or 2 . You can stack them for better results, but I usually like to save some slots for other useful tonics. Have fun!
I started on survivor mode a few weeks a go (taking it slow, exploring every nook and cranny. Only playing a few hours a week, I don't want it to be over so quickly!!) I had a couple of playthroughs on normal, and wanted to see how bad survivor really was... and it turned out to be just AWESOME!! Not really that hard at all once you get some 'supplies', but still a lot more challenging and exciting. I wouldn't like playing with the vita-chambers turned off though. I would force myself to save the game constantly, would take the fun out of the game.

Yeah i hear ya. ill prolly play it slow since i work often and i love the story behind this game. but for the achievement you cant die, so i have to turn off vita-chambers :) most my play time is going to be saving the game to get big daddy beat downed

I started a hard mode game months ago, and have been playing on and off since than, trying to get the last 2 achievements. I actually end up skipping most big daddies, even though ill know ill need them later. Right now i just arrived in hephaestus.
But yeah, it defiently is pretty difficult. I had alot of trouble in neptunes bounty when you face peach with no weapons.

Strangely, my encounter with Peach on survivor was the easiest ever!! I knew this part would get hard, (at least, it should have been), because I even had trouble with this on normal difficulty, so I kinda assumed I wouldn't be able to do it in one go. I started spraying plasmids around like a madman, not sure what I did, total chaos. But within seconds, the fog lifted, no more splicers...?? Confused as I was, looking around if I could find peachy somewhere, I couldn't believe I killed him that quickly! Maybe a glitch? I don't know, but it really was just a matter of seconds.
Something else, why are there (almost?) no eve-hypos available for purchase in the circus of values machines in Arcadia?? Don't remember if this was also the case in normal-mode..
DarkLordVerjal
08-01-2009, 03:45 PM
Yeah I noticed Arcadia's lack of Eve in machines too. It balances out since you find a LOT. But there is 1 machine that has them, at the end of the underground river.
As for Hard Mode, I leave the Viti Chambers on, but save often. I've already have gotten Brass Balls, so it's not a big deal. Only had to use it twice, when a Splicer came up from behind after a Big Daddy battle. And a Rosie that was really annoyed at me...
i see i see. those make sense. prolly bloodlust also. you get sport booster from taking pictures right?
Yeah, you get Sport Boost 1 & 2 from research pictures of the Thuggish Splicers.
