That.would.rock.out.

so.hard.

Condemned got some of the best atmosphere around and I loved the story, (about man's inner hatred).

if its got one fault, its that it does hold you by the hand a little to often and guide us gently through the puzzles,I'd have preffered to have used my own initiative when using the forensic tools.;)

Yeah, it would've been much better if you were actually able to use the tools to investigate scenes and follow up clues yourself. Whipping out the correct forensic tool whenever the game required it meant it added very little in terms of gameplay. A bit of a missed opportunity.

Pretty good game. I think the best parts were near the end at the house and on the farm. The city just felt like the same thing over and over and over.

yeah, those moments were too on rails for my liking, having said that the game still makes me shiver and i guess its a minor complaint.a seriously freaky moment is in Barts department store when some of the nutters are posing as manequins, one of them has got a santa hat and beard, its seriously F**** up!

To be honest i don't think play.com is an exceptionally reliable source. Although a sequel would be pretty sweet as the game wasnt wrapped up very well. Lots of questions still hanging, alot like F.E.A.R.

Much to my surprise a sequel has been announced by SEGA! This was my favorite game (next to Kameo) on the 360 and I'm psyched that their going to make another.

Hope you guys will join me in an online bum melee contest, :D.

Since playing the demo I'm still itching to play the first condemned (I think I'm going to start selling things on ebay to buy a 360)

Hope you guys will join me in an online bum melee contest, :D.As long as I can configure the appearance of my vagrant drug-addict avatar, hell yes!

Condemmed is still my overall favourite game on 360,
Monolith have done such a superb job of capturing the mood of movies like SE7EN to create a really creepy experience.
As I'm one of the few who found FEAR dissapointing,I'm glad monolith have turned there attention back to the condemmed games.
I can't wait to play the sequel.

Oh man, it's pretty amazing. In my opinion it's leagues better then FEAR which was released also by Monolith at the same time (bring it up because usually people compare those games) but it's also way creepier then Silent Hill IMO.

Just calmly walking through the dilapatated environments, seeing the drug addicts hyped up on something running ahead of you, only to realize you have one bullet left and have to use your gun as a melee weapon,:D

Yes, I too hope to have customization over my crack monkey of choice. That, and tasers along with the execution moves...since they were in the original.

I'm just glad too that they will continue the original story, seeing as how they left a big WTF moment at the end.

hmm I think f.e.a.r. was better than condemned.
F.e.a.r. used a supernatural kind of horror, although not realistic, it was well explained and it made sense, I never felt like the game's atmosphere or story was unrealistic (except when I realized you were being commanded to fight about 1000 soldiers all by yourself... no boss in the world would do that without sending backup ^^). However in Condemned I just couldn't buy it from the very first scene, when I realized that everywhere in the city there where like 2000 bumps with guns and bat's, all crazy wanting to kill you. The game made no effort in trying to make you feel you where in a realistic world where something had gone very very wrong, the game was just like that, wrong, and the city was plagued by these crazy bumps and you were the only one fighting them. There where only bumps and more bumps, and misteriously they where the only affected by the thing that final guy used, but you weren't affected, and neither were the cops. ¿Why didn't they put for example some ticket salesman in the subway crying in his post, slowly going crazy? or some normal guys running I don't know! The story of the game simply SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!! I must admit the other stuff was good... the graphics, the scenarios, the combat, yeah it was good. But f.e.a.r.'s story completly owns condemened's one.

Condemned is - pretty much like Silent Hill - one of those games that seem to have been inspired a whole lot by the KULT pen and paper RPG.
And with KULT in mind, everything in Condemned makes sense. It just works as a KULT game.
FEAR can't really be compared to Condemned, it's apples and oranges. FEAR is a FPS with occasional close combat moves, where Condemned is, well, not. Closest thing it's a FPB, First Person Brawler. With guns.
All they have in common is being from Monolith, and being first person games.

Is Condemned the scariest game of all time?
I dunno. It's close. But then there's still the Shalebridge Cradle of Thief III.
Bart's Department Store indeed had some of the most creepish moments for me.
The Mannequin things were pretty nasty.
Though the most intense fight was, I guess, the one with the two big guys in the subway generator room.

One thing I hate about Condemned is the lack of basic physical motion the game is missing. You can't lean, jump, or crouch or mantle in any way, and so far some access points looked ridiculously easy to gain entry to if I could have just stepped over that fallen bookshelf, but I couldn't.

This game is extreeeemely linear, in its levels and its attacking gameplay.

True but it has a mood in the lvs that few other games manage to do and the gadgets look great.

Yep, something I found out as the game progresses. Wow was the department store level ever spectacularily oozing of creepy atmosphere. I've totally forgotten how much I'm physically being put on rails and am just enjoying the small tidbits of plot being revealed to me.

Seriously though in the sequel there needs to be more freedom of movement around the environment. We all knew it was there in the FEAR JupiterX engine, but they chose to hamper it for whatever playtest reasons

FEAR also wasn't quite the game with loads of freedom.
Agreed, it had a lot more of it than Condemned, but...

Anyway, it's all in the Mononlith. They seem to ALWAYS make games I love. <3

Just wait til you reach the farmhouse later on! The gameplay is so immersive,I dont care if its on rails or not,the first time one of the Manequins stepped of its pedestal in the department store,is still one of the most frightening things I've ever experienced in a game. Also for a FPS,It feels kinda weird when you actually do get a gun!-The melee weapons are great,The Hachet is just nasty!;)

Agreed. :D

The thing about the mannequins in condemend is that I always knew when it was a junkie, so most of that level was ruined for me :( . Still the bit where the real mannequins appear behind you was freaky. Not to mention the joy of punching the father claus dude in the face. :p

One of the biggest shocks evar = Getting a close-up shot of the gym teacher, Mr. Tibbits face. Reminiscent of the sloth scene in the movie Se7en.

The levels are getting better in the latter half. This game makes me more anxious for the release of Alan Wake

Creepiest part, specially when you enter the bathroom right after that scene and all those stalls come flying at you...and you hear the kids laughing.

It looks like their designing a post-apocalyptic world to accompany the games continuing fiction. I guess that cult of rage worshippers got a hold of the whole world and turned it into one big smorgasbord of murderous behavior. Thomas and whoever else that chose "compassion" are probably trying to make sense of the world and reign in that cult.

As long as his swings come with the accompanying "Fug You" or "You Little...SHI"

Jeeez. You know the game left an indelible mark in my mind. I want to know about that crazy cult that used metal as a motif and fried people's brains. I want to know what happens to Agent Thomas after the bathroom scene. What about Malcolm Van Horne?

OK, that's it. Splicer, looks like the 360 is in my cards ;)

Wait, the orginal Condemned also didn't appear on PC at first.
Haven't read that article, but I'd say 2 will probably also come to PC some time after the 360 launch.

That's my hope, but I'm wary of the possibility when developers outright say No. If the possibility exists, why not just say "Not at this time" or "Only currently planned for PS3 & XBOX360. We'll look into the PC after release". Are Sony & Microsofts exclusivity ego's so easily bruised if the PC platform gets a later port?

I can imagine them having either some sort of NDA or strong hint from the publisher's marketing department not to tell of a planned PC port in order to maximise sales on the consoles. Okay, for whatevere mischievious reason that would be, but I can imagine it. Maybe I'm reading too many conspiracy theory stuff... oô
