View Full Version : Weird thing I've noticed in the gameplay vids!?

Are there 2 different gameplay vids? There's 1 that starts out, and you see a pedestrians woman (repeating 3 or more times) and you see a shoe shiner shining a mans shoe, and you see a husky man leaning on a corner taking a smoke...

But check this one out: http://tr.youtube.com/watch?v=irB9nnExsQQ&feature=related

Notice how you don't see the woman with the dress (nor any repeated npcs), you don't see the shoe shiner shining anyones shoe, and in the corner where there's a man smoking it's now a woman....

Strange? Why are they different? Any suggestions:D

there's an easy explanation for that, multiple game-play videos were recorded..

and when that happen's, it's bound to have NPC's doing different things..

But how come in the 1st gameplay vid you can see pedestrains constantly repeating, yet in this one there are none that repeat???

Accident? I dont think one of the trailers might be based on a tweaked version of the game.

Well that`s how the system of "voilent" and "non-violent" interactivity works, interesting...

Well, obviously we do want to have the NPCs behave different all the time to create the proper impression of real, life-like city with minimum pre-scripted events.

This is actually one of the best things about our AI, that pedestrians are able to perform various actions depending on where they are, what is available there etc. and even when there is nothing interesting for them to interact with, they could reach into their inventory and for example light a smoke

hey, hi martin, but i also noticed that in the video the NPC when they hear a shot they make the same movement and run, it looks werid so it will be the same movement for all??

Sadly, this reminds me, in a really cynical way, of the beta Mafia scratches. Thankfully, 2K Martin has revitalized my hope.

I think it's just that they've yet to implement all the other pedestrian animations for gunshot shots...

If your reffering to the video that I posted, then it's a really a bad quality video (REALLY TERRIBLE QUALITY), and the gameplay shown was an early alpha build..

I am referring to the scratched Alpha Mafia that had independent cycling civilians, more varied graphics, higher quality shaders, street racing, etc.

Another thing that was weird in the Gameplay video is the PIANO when a couple of bullets during gunfire hits a nearby piano it topples over ... now this is not good physics ... i thought i was the only one who noticed it but ... not really see this show from Gamespot 15:11 to 15:40

I hope they would have already noticed it and fixed this problem ... maybe something to do with the weight of the piano ... :)

I thought it was odd but if you look carefully the lid collapses pulling the whole piano over. Still not sure if that's realistic, but it may be the reason why it fell over in this particular instance.

Yeah I noticed that as well but I thought it wasn't worth posting about it.
Four bullets is definitely not enough to make a piano fall over on it's side, unless it's 50KG silver bullets or if the piano is made out of carton.

I noticed that the guards actually PUT DOWN their guns, and that was amazing. I mean, even in "Realistic" games like Splinter Cell, it seems that guns are surgically attached to peoples' hands, and they CONSTANTLY look around, like robots. These men seem to act like normal, bored guys who have been guarding the same warehouse for a few months too long. I mean, how often does a guy kick in the door and open fire with a Tommy gun? In most games, they're expecting an attack every second, and these guys sit around, smoke, tell jokes, etc.

Still i don't think that the Piano should topple over due to that ... even hundreds of bullets should not make it go like that ... it should take damage as a result of bullets hitting piano ... and the surface may deteriorate that would be more realistic imo ...

Look, the psyhics presented in video was very-very oldschool. I mean if you've looked at the object as they were bouncing, what the piano did, it was very-very oldschool, they have to fix it. I'm not mentioning the car driving, it has been said that for the video it was set on fully arcade setting.
But the behaviour of those small objects were very old-fashioned.
Anyway, it's a work-in-progress.

I know, this is just one of those things that make this game so great. The people are really well thought out, just relaxing, well done.:)

Thank you for not over reacting about the piano and everything it is a work in progress like you said. They'll hopefully have all the bugs gone by the time the game is out.:)
