Halo 3 Beta

Now confirmed with a start date of May 16th, will run through to june 7th and include 3 maps, Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound, all of which have been graphically improved since initial screenshots were released.

I still think the whole "Please please please by Crackdown! It doesn't really suck that bad! Here, have a free pass for Halo3 Beta too! It's Free!!!" stunt was a little bit lame.

IMO, you could wrap Crackdown in diamonds and I still wouldn't buy it. From what I've played and read so far, it's not really worth my hard-earned fifty quids.

we bought crackdown as a means of getting into the beta program, I was pleasantly suprised by crackdown though. It felt like GTA, except that it was fun, all the things I thought to myself "I wish I could do that" while playing GTA were completely doable in crackdown. Really though, what's more fun than jumping off the top of a 20 story building and raining bullets and grenades and general destructive death upon all those below you?

Yeah it was a bit repetitive and they definately could've done a bunch differently to decrease the repetitive nature of the game, but overall I think it was a fantastic game.

Yeah, sure, I agree that a bucket-load of Crackdown's collection of super-hero tricks and gimmicks are all wickedly fun. I had a whale of a time just kicking trucks all day (am I that simple?...).

But the game as a whole lasts around 10 minutes, and after that, repetition rears it's mean ugly face and shoo's you away for good. After playing through a friend's copy on and off, and downloading the demo from XBL, I can't honestly see why you'd want to pay money for it.

The demo only lasts a boredom-controlling 30mins at a time. Your skills level up super-fast so you can start properly enjoying yourself asap (ok... they do reach a level cap eventually...). And it costs nothing.

Got my invite for free being in the first 13,333 or whatever to sign up. I would never buy crackdown for a beta though. Especially a beta that only lasts for a month or so. Cant wait!

well i got crackdown free with my xbox, it's decent enough better than GoW (another free game) which is duller than dull.

well yeah GoW had great graphics but it was all the same Run and Gun unlike Crackdown where it was run,gun,drive,smash,throw,kick,obliterate,and lets not forget super jump:p

Ha hahahaha! Jokes aside...

I played both GoW and Crackdown for free (courtesy of Mr. Gimble and his infinitely rich pockets), and I gotta say, GoW caused me several million times more moments of gaming pleasure than Crackdown could ever aspire to. There's only so many trucks to kick before you need something a little more... dare I say... structured?

So there. Suck it.

I'm not saying crackdown is the best game ever, I found it to be a good blast for a few hours, thats it.

Where GoW is just the same thing over and over and over again, to me it really is an exercise in style over content.

To make it short: I am not excited about Halo 3 (beta).

I am not impressed either and Halo is one of my favorite series. Of course, no most things look like crap compared to Gears, cept for BS, :D

there's definately still some rough edges, looks like the occasional place-holder texture aswell, the size of the "shield bubble generator" when dropped and how it looks is atrocious, but I most everything looks about as it should in a beta form. I admit some of it looked to be lacking but I'd rather play the game before I get to judging. Afterall it's a success in terms of playability in terms of both single and multiplayer then I don't need to have the most shockingly amazing graphics.

The new video wasn't even beta footage, it was alpha.

One thing I am impressed with is would be the sound quality, and how shots echo in a canyon, and you can tell when something blew up from far away.
