Hello all,

Newbie signing in with a question about how the cars in Mafia 2 will handle (in the finished product I mean).

In the footage I've seen so far the cars handle as if they're on rail road tracks... no overstear or understear, no screaming tires etc. For instance, in the footage released last week on GameTrialers the cars are cornering successfully at speeds that - in real life - would make you miss the corner completely and crash into whatever is in front of you.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on this. I'm very much looking forward to the game and am hoping that car handling will be realistic. I'm a classic car guy and know from experience that American cars from this era are heavy, have very soft springs, ride on cross-ply/bias ply tires and have drum breaks that are really not up to the task.

Cheers,
Reijer

p.s. Here are a few photos of my '64 Lincoln Continental. Hopefully Mafia 3 will be set in the 60's and 70's. :D

From what I gather, the physics weren't entirely in place for the car chase, which is why it seems like you're playing with a remote control car. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the cars drove far too well for their time. Most cars around today can't even handle as well as that.

I hope they do modify the cars' handling to become more realistic. In the original, they consulted the owners of several antique cars in order to get a realistic result. I hope they do the same this time.
