I remember hearing a while ago, when the teleportation plasmid was first announced, that it moved you forward x number of feet. Now it seems that it brings you to a predetermined spot, similar to Mark/Recall in Morrowind. Can a 2K employee clear this up, and what are people's opinion on this?

iirc in the Hunting a Big Daddy video the narrator said something about actually setting a warp point. That's how it worked in SS2. Although it does look as though one of the splicers jumps forward, but that might be the effect of a speed boost plasmid (there might be a minor bullet-time effect in operation, although that's purely conjecture).

Predetermined location is a lot better for tactics involving the rooms with loads of enemies that the previews have described. Although it would be best to have the option for both, since we are getting 50 plasmids why not have a directional teleport plasmid & a nav-marker based plasmid.
I can see it being abused to the point where creating a safe zone effectively allows a player to go into a room, do some quick damage, and bail out before the heat is on. I believe, however, that the AI ecology (plus Big Daddy rampages) will create an environment of anxiety & few safe spots in Rapture, flushing the player out of such spots or surprising them in the least.
This may be an example where the dreaded Adaptive Difficulty would actually work well, creating a balance between player exploitation of environment and pressure from enemy AI.

wow! ROBOCOP-great movie-tastless,but great! To be serious for a moment,I love the idea of teleportation,it gives a chance to regroup, heal ect,i dont think its gonna take the edge off the combat, and also because of the ultra intelligent AI,theres every chance that when you do use it to escape another surprise could be at the other end...OH....SH....IT!

well... those doctors use that short range teleportation where they are blown to small gory bits then re assembled near by... but maybe you are talking about the one that you use to go to the same place over and over again
