I would challenge you to a speed run, but not only do I have work, but I figure that this will be one of the few games I will have more fun just playing than beating.

PTO, a bedpan, some bread, and some water and you're good to go. I may wait to see how it is upon opening - if it's buggy, I'd rather wait until the patch for my first run through.

I won't hurry, a game is no race. I rather enjoy every part of it.

I wasnt suggesting it was a race, when i play a game,I'm in til the end,its just a personal preference, and lets face it,once you start playing bioshock are you gonna want to turn it off?

There's no way I'm going to complete Bioshock in five sittings, never mind one. I'm going to try and not let myself complete it within two weeks, at least. Bioshock may very well be the best gaming experience in years, it's not something I want to bomb through in a single weekend.
Besides, not all of us will have the luxury of a long summer break ;)

I'm definitely going to savour it. I won't be rushing through it. Depending on how the game is set up I may either play all the way through or re-start a few times.
I'd like to play it on PC but I don't want to have to compromise on graphical quality, and I don't think I'm going to be able to afford a 'top-flight' PC to play it at full quality, so I'm very probably going to buy a 360. If I were to buy a PC I'd want to wait until I could at least play it at an equivalent quality to the 360, and I'd also want to run Alan Wake, so there's still a chance I might just wait a while (probably the only one of the forum who'd be prepared to do so)— in fact you might even find me MIA after it's release (I want to avoid spoilers). It doesn't help that I have to sink some money into the collectors edition, but I guess that's something I should be grateful for ;)

I can see I'm in the minority(as usual)but you can be sure I'll be savouring each moment of bioshock.I remember a similar discussion when RE4 was released on gamecube-a lot of gamers i know intended to play it in bite sized chunks, whereas i booted it up around 5pm and was veiwing the credits around 6am the following morning-I've sinced played it over a dozen times-and always enjoy it.I dare say Bioshock will be no different.I'm really looking forward to talking with you all once its out-I dont think any of us will play exactly the same game, thats the beauty of it.:) also,it really doesnt matter what pace you decide to play at,i dont intend to appear bullish in my attitude to finishing it-i adore games and want to squeeze every ounce of magic from whatever i play-if for you, thats a week, month, whatever, thats great.

There is no doubt in my mind that come August 21st Bioshock will preoccupy my id, ego and superego with its alluring call.
That being said, I hope no professional duties keep me from devoting time to enjoying every nuance and motion accompanying the game, including:
- Awestruck gazing at the installation progress bar
- Reading the manual front-back
- Admiring the desktop icons and placing it in it's own reserved spot
- Relishing the packaging & goodies of the Collector's Edition
- Looking at the game's file folder and it's audio/visual assets
- Applying Bioshock desktop wallpaper & Windows sound scheme to fit the mood
- Taking my time with every single game option (graphical, sound, control schema)
Like others here I prefer to take my time and immerse myself in every minute of the rich gameplay, and to stop and smell the roses of art-deco, 50's chic, and Rapturian idiosyncracies. I don't care how long it takes me, be it a week or a month, and I'm psychologically inclined to let it stretch out to delay the umwanted end of an original experience.
However, I do not like to stop the day's playthrough of it at some arbitrary middle-point of a level, so I usually footslog through until I reach a logical point of saving for the night, such as before a new level transition or an entrance to a known objective.
EDIT: Splicer, if the 3 days advance we get really furrows your brow, you could just remotely connect to my machine for an early taste ;)
