But I should put my text where my mouth is as far as making some fan-art.

Some ideas though..

-The Pamphlet that a prospective second generation Rapturian (Rapturite?) would receive in a bulky airmailed envelope inviting them to the illuminated depths. Ryan Andrew probably hand wrote the initial intelligentsia invites.

-The first newspaper distributed in Rapture before it got defeated by yet another genius editors strange economic machinations. Headlines that highlight the areas we've seen so far like the entryway restaurant's opening and the bathysphere tower's inaugural lighting.

-A Little Sister's crayon drawing properly weathered to look almost as disturbing as the happy faced diving suit men with gore soaked harpoons frolicking in a broken city.

-Before and after and even later than that photographs (drawings photoshopped images etc) of early Adam users bodies changing like a twisted Charlie Atlas advertisement.

-The view of the fleet of supply laden ships heading towards Rapture;s genesis. Atmospheric and almost beautiful with some uber mensch type intrepid egoist, possibly Ryan Andrews, arms outstretched "I"m king of the world!".

That's it for now. Might have more brewing in my head after the newest podcast sinks in.

This is my next one. A collage wallpaper, consisting of many little motives, which are supposed to fit to Rapture. Its like a welcome envelope someone gets, before moving to Rapture. I tried to arrange several items, which should fit to that timeline, like the newspaper from 1957. Official IG content is inside too, like the "Welcome to Rapture" and the Kashmir restaurant advert taken from the official site.

Originally I planned a tee with a girl like the LS, who says "Dont mess with a little girl, or it might call her Daddy!" - and the BD in the background.

I turned down the idea for this motive, where the Big Daddy comes out of the door, throwing his threatening shadow towards you, while the Little Sister takes cover.

And it seems like I am not the only one from here at the contest. Our "Newbeing" seems to do great there, too.

Yup I've decide to throw a few designs in, might throw in one more too, but who knows, might just leave it to the t-shirt professionals as I don't think anyone would be caught dead in what I've created haha. I did try to put something rapture related in my designs, but I don't know if they really have that "wear me!" appeal. But I would certainly wear your design Rapture tourist. At least people know what it is heh.

Some of the designs though are really random. Like there is one of George washington's Ghost chopping down cherry trees... How that pertains to "Decent to Rapture" is beyond me.

Im pleased how this turned out. Mostly because I havent actually drawn anything for nearly 3 years. I guess I was waiting for inspiration, and Bioshock seems to have done it. Hmm... I wonder what else I should draw.

That's an amazingly realized product spread Rapture_Tourist.

This fine fan art has inspired some questions that might apply to the actual Collector's Edition.

The cost of a painted Big Daddy. I'd be happy just with one at all much like the pewter Cyberdemon from the Doom set eons ago. It wouldn't have to be such a costly material though, perhaps entirely plastic?

A soundtrack mini CD might not be less costly than a full sized one. I don't know the specifics so this is merely a guess but it doesn't seem to be as mass produced of a format.

I like the scene you've portrayed here, and it brings to mind a situation that I hope the AI ecology in Bioshock can make happen, either via conflicting behaviour of the BD/LS vs. Dr. Splicer, or coming about through the enrage plasmid.

i hope the BD really sneaks up on splicers in the game and you just see the drill come up right through their stomach that would be cool and realistic also nice art

Or you could simply give it a few brighter objects, like water or something. You don't loose the feel or mood and people are actually able to look at it.

This is just a quick sketch of what I mean. Please do not be offended that I altered your work, it is just for making a quick example.

Sorry for saying so, but I didn't like the trailer. Most of all I think the music was poorly chosen and didn't fit at all. The style of Rapture and the game itself are breathing a totally different atmosphere. You made it look like a action packed shooter like Doom or Quake, which both aren't particularly my cup of tea.

Personally, I like the song so thats abit of biasness, I think that the song works well for what it shows of the game, like a couple of you have said, it doesn't reflect the atmospheric part of the game. (But then again, that wasn't shown in the video.)

its just a photoshop picture using a graphics tablet. a much lighter image was originally planned, but i decided on the much darker version you see there. i'll finish it, only got a couple more day of college then im free to do what i please with my time. thank god:D

I like the fact the you left in the grand speech and put some of the voice overs from a podcast in there as well. Oh, And I liked that you could hear the BD moaning in it!

It was just a little hard to hear some of the 'Grand Speech' towards the end where Ryan is talking, and the music is in the background.

We should try to use tact when dealing with others. Be it about videos, music, art, drawings, etc. Especially with stuff that is created by us, the fans.

We all are here because we think Bioshock is going to be a great game. And, the more creative and talented people have taken their time to try and express this in various ways. I think that's great because I know I couldn't do half of what these people do.

Do we all have opinions? Yes. Is everyone entitled to their opinion? Yes. Do our opinions always agree with others? Nope. Are we going to express our opinions? Probably. Can we express these opinions in a tactful way? I think so.

just watched it now, I like that one alot. if anything was to be changed I'd raise the volume of ryan's speech near the end of the video, as the music conflicts with it a tad too much and washes out some of it. Other than that, I'd say that's the second best one to date.

sup im new, ive read a lot but i never joined until now, im wondering what u guys think the point of bioshock is. i always felt that u were in a depressing desperate world(in bioshock) . i play guitar and listen to alternative rock and that's what mad world is all about. The desperation. There are a few parts where it doesn't match up but its a perfect song. (Look at gears of war commercial for more on the desperation and loneliness) anyways another goood song if it was long enough would be Memory by Sugarcult or I Will survive by Cake (only cake's version)

I put the bioshockgame.com address in so people'd look at the card, think "gee, what a swell place!", look back at the front to see where they can find out more, and go "hohoho! It's a game!" rather than wait until they get home, plot evil plots against the fabric of the city, design giant diver-suit wearing freaks and then find out it was a game.

But, seriously. I just thought the word "cult" on a business card without something else to explain it might make someone call the cops, or something. But, I like the intrigue idea of actually looking it up on the internet, and only THEN finding out exactly what it is.

Love this stuff. I now have a new wallpaper (GIb's old gold view of Rapture.) :) Frankbullitt, I really liked your fan vid; not a bad song choice considering, and I particularly liked your teaser trailer. Lurchibald, very appropriate song choice, and I like the old-fashioned effect you used on the footage. Nihil, nicely done, particularly how you spliced in the (Atlas?) voiceover. GH, that big daddy repaint is gorgeous... love to have that on my wall. Heh, nice one Fennerman, Sub Zero is so screwed.

I don't guess it really counts as fan art, but, well, I edited a webcam photo of me to look Rapturish and 40s-photo style; that's my little avatar. I altered my hair just a tiny bit in places, added a rose, applied numerous filters and little adjustments, and then gave it a simple vignette. Didn't take very long. Too bad it wasn't a better quality photo, but, oh well. Here's the larger version.

I was just being kind of a douche, glad to see you didn't take offence as I really didn't mean any. I'll take a look at it eventually but asking me to listen to MCR is like asking me to cheer for the Ottawa Senators, it just doesn't feel right :p

No worries dude. I knew what you ment. I used the song mostly for effect, so if you can stand about 40 seconds of (mostly) instrumental MCR might see something cool...maybe.:cool:

This is my next one. A collage wallpaper, consisting of many little motives, which are supposed to fit to Rapture. Its like a welcome envelope someone gets, before moving to Rapture. I tried to arrange several items, which should fit to that timeline, like the newspaper from 1957. Official IG content is inside too, like the "Welcome to Rapture" and the Kashmir restaurant advert taken from the official site.
