the best civ3 unit was the battleship, you still can't beat the range of the bombardment... also the calvary dominates for earlier/longer than the tanks, vastly over powered... took away from the knight.

civ4: the rolling great artist attach was my fav, have one of your top 3 cities produce great artists and continuously build great works at your borders until all of their cities just peacefully join yours.

Warlords: the great generals... bring back the armies of past. with the great wall there'll be a steady supply.

BtS: so far my fav is the corporations

Civ: Catapult
Civ2: Bomber
Civ3: Spearman (Not really, but I got beaten by a spearman with my tank(!!!) in two separate occasions, and the tanks were at full health. Wow, some mighty spearmen...That was the absolutely stupidest thing that has happened to me with Civ. Well, the fact that it happened twice made it so incredibly stupid/annoying)
Civ4: Berserker, of course. The Viking spirit will never die.

Civ: Chariots. They were really overpowered.
Civ II : Tanks.
Civ III: Stealth Fighter/Paratroopers/Tanks. Ah the one turn war.
Civ IV: Tanks.

Marines and Paratroopers... Tanks are ok, but aren't any fun to watch.

My favourite unit in Civ III, and IV is the legionaire. They're very handy to have around during the 'land-grab' phase of the game, and consequently, at a time when your neighbour's bordering cities aren't too well defended!

If at all possible strike early, and strike hard. That's my philosophy!
