a quick question; will Ken Levine have anything at all to do with the BioShock movie?

He is not writing the script but i hear that he is close to the director Gore Verbinski and has been talking with him and the writer John Logan concerning the film.
At the moment he appears to have no official role in the making of the movie.

Personally, I think it likely that Mr. Levine is going to be a 'behind the scenes' kind of guy, and perhaps won't get credit for much else other than the intellectual property (and for 2K/Irrational Games as well). If he does take a more direct approach to the film, I can definitely see him being at least a creative director/supervisor to the project itself. BioShock's his baby, so I doubt he's going to let Hollywood have the chance to ruin it. ;)

wouldnt it be awesome if they tottaly screwed it up.. and ruined the bioshock series... kinda making is like tomb raider... then theyll make a game about the movie... bwahahaha
in all seriousness I think they could only do the movie justice if it was 2 1/2 hours long... but theyll make it a quick 90 minute movie to cash in on people who have no idea what bioshock is.... :'(

The search tool (located in the upper right-hand portion of the forum) is perfect for finding threads about the movie.
The main discussion is here (http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17530&highlight=movie+pirates).
But the search found several other threads, one of which is specifically about the director, and it mentions that Verbinski has been consulting with Levine about the movie but that Levine's official capacity has not been confirmed.

I personally see the selection of Gore Verbinkski as a great move on the company's part. They didn't get a hack. They have someone who has done horror (The Ring) and then probably one of the best action trilogies of all time.

i agree wholehartedly...they could have got some loser director (and i think we all know who im talking about) but instead they got a very popular director who did an excellent job with the "Pirates" movies and he's even done horror with the ring...IMO i think its a great choice

i personally think that he did ok in the first pirates movie, but with something as complex as bioshock.

I agree that he's a good choice for the film, although I wouldn't say he's a Steven Spielberg or anything...the Pirates trilogy was alright, although I'm going to have to disagree about it being the greatest of all time...but still, the horror experience is definitely needed, as well as having experience in portraying a different time period, elaborate sets, and realistic costumes. I think he's a fine choice.

Can't believe I missed this thread. There's already an Official Bioshock movie thread. Don't make duplicate threads.
