i have got a Logitech G5 Laser Mouse silver edition and a good old Logitech MouseMan Dual Optical (1 for my pc and 1 for my laptop =)... i use the dual optical longer then 5 years and it's really worn-out, think i'll buy me another G5 (a very good mouse).

I think dual optical might be discontinued (I was looking for one recently (I used to like rotating the mouse for finer control)). I use an MX500, it's good but it's only got one beam (and it's notchy when sniping) and you can't configure the extra buttons without load-out software (which you only got with the more expensive gamer's version (I'm kind of regretting not having bought the gamer's model :/ )).

What are trackballs like for gaming?
a lot of people told me that's why i'm such a horrible shot in FPS, but it's sort of like how i said i'm lefthanded but still game mostly righthanded (with controllers/mice, everything but guitar hero, really. i play guitar leftie and it was too confusing otherwise. but i digress.)
i think if you learn how to game on a trackball (and i did, i've been using one since i was 12) you get pretty good at it. and i have one with 6 buttons so i can bind a lot of stuff to those buttons really nicely. i much prefer it to a mouse. i think you get ultimate precision this way. just a bit more of a learning curve.

i have one with 6 buttons so i can bind a lot of stuff to those buttons really nicely. One thing that really bugs me about my MX500 is that I've got a whole bunch of extra buttons but can't bind anything to them. Also, the page-back button is in just the right place for me to keep hitting it every time I get in to 'flow state' when working
I guess I should buy a new mouse ;)

I've got a Razer Diamondback as my primary mouse, and a resurected generic mouse as a spare. It's one of those stupid designs where the cord sticks up as it comes out the front, and it had snapped off. With a bit of insulation tape (I probably should have soldered, but oh well) and some tinfoil, it's good as new.

Microsoft Standard wireless optical mouse.
I love wireless mouses, they're so much less confined :).

An ancient WACOM is doing double duty as an art and mouse pad.
I love the thing because there's no trackball to clean or little IR lens to be worried about. Although the felt bottom has gone to '5th Degree Blackbelt'.
I dislike how it gets wacky and possessive about weather or not the pen was used last.
All in all it's a world better than the ball mouse on cardboard I used to use. :p

how did you get so many posts in 2 months, hatesink???
i use a "ritmo" optical mouse and keyboard (ps/2 - NOT USB)
800dpi, works alright, only payed AU$30 for them off ebay
in fact, i built my computer for less than $1200 (~US$977) including vista.
7600GT, athlonX2 4200+, 1GB DDRII 667MHz RAM, 320GB HDD, free CRT monitor, $50 case and psu!!! and a good mobo. its a nice "budget" pc that works well, and plays sauerbraten at a solid 100frames (sauerbraten is also known as cube 2, an open source doom/quake-style fps with the ability for real-time editing of maps, incluing in multiplayer)

ah.. the lifelong question that all trackballs need to be accountable for.
2kelizabeth? have you ever spilled coffee on your trackball on a freezing day where your fingers just DONT work?

I received a new mouse as present recently but the cursor has a tendency to move on its own. Usually a stray cat hair is to blame after one of 'em rolls around on the desk seeking attention, but this one definitely gots gremlins.
My other mouse is some generic Logitech with two buttons and a scroll, which is all I need and it's really light and manoeuvrable, so I find it great for any twitch reaction gaming.

trackball for life!QFT. What kind do you use? I've been using the "Wireless Marble Trackman Wheel" for years, myself. If only they made a Bluetooth model, then I'd be set.
