Hi all, new to the forum but am a huge Mafia fan and cant describe with words how much I´m looking forward to Mafia II.

So now when we know each other :D I have a little question, I wonder what year part 2 will be in, have looked around a bit but cant find any info.

Anyone have a clue?

Basically between 1945-1955. But it may start in 1946 as most soldiers from WWII didn't begin to return until 1946. The war was over but 75% remained over there.

Judging by model years of cars I've seen on screens so far, the game goes to 1954 for sure. Guess we haven't seen screens from whole time period Mafia II will cover.

The fact that there is a 1956 song (actually not only one, Oh Marie! is from the same year I think) doesn't necessarily mean the game reaches exactly the same time period. What is pretty sure is that the songs in trailers will make their appearance in the game, idea of licensing a song only for trailer seems quite expensive to me :-)

Even this is quite unclear imo ... WW II ended in 1945 in Europe, so why should Vito come back from war in 1948? And as far as we know, game begins in time of Vito's comeback.

if youv'e seen band of brothers etc they had to stayback untill they got there 50 or 100 points all of the american soldiers that hadn't got there "points" went back in 1948 the whole reason for that was they wanted to keep Germany in a grip so they don't rebbel etc

You can actually say they never left as the base the US established in Europe in 1946 are still there. Ramstein Air Base was built in '51. The battle fronts did go quiet, but force still remained. The just didn't end and everyone came home.

the game will start with a prologue the robbery that got vito convicted in the first place and after that he went in the war and came back as you guys say 1945-1948 so the game will start a bit sooner than his return

we got the year that the game will start: The game starts in the winter of 1946 in the fictional city of Empire City which is heavily inspired by N.Y.C and 16 square kilometers huge. When Vito Scaletta arrives by train to the Empire City after his military service, has recently continued a poor life. The town lays white snow everywhere and the people walking around and there are daily workers at the station. Before a few years ago, Vita was caught by the police for a small theft. The judge offered him in prison, or service in the army. Vito choose war.
