Warning!!! Cheat or Glitch turns win into loss!!!

The Problem:
So I noticed a new problem, well new to me anyway. The problem occurred when playing ranked H2H on PS3 and my opponent left the game. The screen popped up announcing victory and showing where all the players placed as usual but when I hit OK, instead of taking me to the next screen showing the various end game options like histogram, stats, etc. the game went straight out to the main menu. Thought it was weird but thought nothing more of it. Later checked my ranking, as I do after every game, and it had chalked me up with a loss instead of a win. (I hadn't lost any games that morning so it wasn't from a previous game that hadn't updated yet)

Possible clue as to what's happening:
After another game later finished again with the guy leaving - the opponent this time was actually MattClark who is in the top 4 I think - I'm at the screen where it says Victory and "MattClark has left the game" flashes up on the screen. This time I don't hit OK right away like I usually do because I got a phone call. About 30 seconds later a message pops up on the screen saying "Waiting for MattClark" and then it says "MattClark is joining the game" and it's still on the initial victory screen. So I waited a little longer and about 30 seconds later again it said "MattClark has left the game" again. That time I did get awarded the win but why the hell was he coming back into the game, and how?

I got hit with another loss later in the same way and now I wait for a few minutes before I hit any buttons after the victory screen pops up. Somehow people are getting back into the game after they have left and already lost. I don't know if it's a deliberate cheat but I don't think so because I've noticed it happen with several different people since so I think it's more likely to be a glitch. Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what's going on?

Incidentally I'm 66 & 12 now which should be 68 & 10... And 5 of those 10 were from my PS3 crashing. I have the 60 GB PS3 and the crashes/freezes are killing me. Does this happen a lot to anyone else? Any way to avoid it?

Yeah, it happened to me once as well. I actually kept playing against the AI, won, but it reported a loss.

I usually get jacked on a resynch. I try to prioritize researching masonry to get my free wall and at least 3 times after the resynch, my wall disappears. Ticks me off to no end.

I actually abandoned the game. I play for fun, not to get frustrated/irritated. I think I had some decent MP games only 10% of times. The remaining 90% have been freezings, resynchs, connection losses, etc. Too bad.

Just to clarify; in the situation I was talking about you can't play on. The player leaves and it says you've won. The situation you're talking about is when you wipe out the other player but they don't leave so you have to keep playing the AI until they do.

thats how i get all my loses :)
anyway i was 46 -16 then i won a game and my rank from 6 ffa ranked went down to 400 so i play again and win again 48-16 my rank went down to 600 its crazy ! i dont care about rank anymore. its funny i use to host alot now im joining the games cause of rankings :)

Just to clarify; in the situation I was talking about you can't play on. The player leaves and it says you've won. The situation you're talking about is when you wipe out the other player but they don't leave so you have to keep playing the AI until they do.

Oh, I misunderstood then. Actually my situation has been that the other player left, I've got the winning screen (if I remember correctly), but then I kept playing against the AI.

I think this is just another bug, though I have no specific evidence for you situation. That game u played w/ matt clark was definately a bug, and that's happened to me a few times as well, but you got credited for the win, so no foul play there.

I think that first game where the player left, though you got charged with the loss was a bug as well. I've had it happen to me once where another player quit and I was charged with a loss (every hard freeze of the game too I get credited for a loss). But twice now I've played games where I was the one giving up, and left the game, only to find out that I'm being credited for the win, when they should've been losses.

So I don't think these are cheats, just more evidence of a consistently bugged-out server. It's really frustrating, and it's easy to suspect the other player, mainly because they're the only other known party involved, but with all the evidence that we've been provided by other players and all the multiple freezes, bugs, glitchs etc. that we've all expierenced in our own games, isn't the most logical conclusion that probably 99% of these freezes are just the servers and that cheaters may make up only a minute amount of the problem???

I've personally never seen a cheat, about the closest thing I have seen is ppl not wanting to quit after a freeze so that they won't get charged for a loss.

Ya I won 11 wins in a row over the last 4 days yet my record over that span was 3-3...awesome.

Crazy stuff. I agree entirely, I'm convinced 100% now that it's a bug. It's happened to me 3 more times since my first post here. I've since learned that hanging around for a few minutes after the victory screen pops up does nothing. I left one running for about 10 minutes and when I left the game I checked the leader boards and I had already been credited with a loss for that game. Given it takes 5 to 10 minutes for the leader boards to update anyway I now know that when your opponent leaves you're credited immediately - with a win or a loss depending entirely on if the game spy glitch gods like or dislike you.

When they make a second civ console game I really hope they learn from their mistakes this time, wipe the rabid hunger-for-immediate-revenue foam from their mouths for a sec, and actually test it before they release it.
