Ok, this time I won't write bla bla bla, just a new record, I used chinese, got a little room to expand, and..
I will post 2-3 images to let you know it is a new record, my first was 2600/1450 AD, then 3300/1575 AD, then 3500/1300 AD
One picture at the moment:

And the Zulus can see the entire map since the beginning in the X360 playing MP. There must be something really wrong in that version of the game.
I started a game with the Romans for testing. Just making settlers. 2 every 15 turns, when possible (you know, there aren't always many forests and grasslands in a continent). There is no possible way to go sky high with the cities. First there is not enough space. Second as I said there are only few good positions. Then you need a galley that you can't produce because you are making settlers. 4th, the AI arrived and obviously took my unprotected cities. Science was zero, i had a little bit of gold from the huts, and the culture was miserable. Tell us where the trick is, because this doesn't make any sense.

I don't believe this is actually the case. There was one guy on the forums saying that he could do that, but it's easy to say anything you want on the forums. If I'd seen pictures, I might have believed him.

Well, sure. But someone else I trust told me to zoom out, move the cursor and look for the culture colours (X360). I did it and I saw just a flat gray fog (PS3). So that Zulu glitch may be there.

If you're limiting yourself to 2 settlers every 15 turns, obviously you're not going to have a dozen cities in 40 turns. Doing that requires you to spend some gold on settlers and settle some cities in spots that aren't perfect. Not every city has to be in a perfect location--even small cities with only 2 water tiles available can contribute (and eventually grow with harbors).
I agree with you though, I would like for Morte to post a step-by-step account of how he gets so many cities so quickly. I haven't been able to do it that well, and I like to think I'm pretty good at the game.
It would take a lot of time to write down every step in the game, but a lot of people could learn from it.

Well, I hope he doesn't post that cheat here, because that's not really helping us, but he would help new players becoming cheaters.
I put here proof about my record and if you want I can ask this one to tell you it was true, if you don't believe with pictures.
PS: If this helps, and it will be appreciated, then I will tell you about step to step to do this. Tell me if you want to know where I move warriors, because that would be really difficult.
Maybe I can post the gold I get, how much I need to rush settlers, and those things, but not many details. I will say maybe also what resources new cities have.

I believe you about the 3500 since by 1300A.D. I know i've done it on diety, I recently broke my record and went into modern era at 100BC with the chinese, from there it was retarded how much i was dominating while the ai had about 7 techs.
With the romans it's even easier to beleive due the the cheap wonders and ability to expand earlier than others.
I don't know about getting so many settlers in that many turns, i don't think it would be wise in most games to build that many so early, unless you feel safe in all facets of the game.

However, I played on multiplayer games, and, that's harder than playing only on deity. You can simply block the AI and no problems, because they won't have enough to stop you. However, in that game, he tried to rush russians but he lost his horsemen army, and I lost it, too because the archer had 6 defence (6v6), then I killed that AI with another army.
Have you played on scenarios perhaps?

I agree, that much science on mp is impressive, on teams you can be a little more protected than FFA, but it's still very impressive. I've gotten some ridiculous amounts of science before on H2H against a noob, he was playing with romans, I had expanded already a lot with chinese and got some population bonuses and was teching decently fast, he traded Code of Laws to me for horseback riding (i relaxed after that), stole some gp, rushed east india, took the ai and was producing massive amounts of gold and science waaaaay earlier than usual.
but it sounds like you actually had decent competition in this game, so that's more impressive than playing against a noob that trades code of laws for hbr.
and as for scenarios, don't ever play them, they seem boring to me. never tried the mp scenarios.

Yeah, I don't think we need every last detail like where you move units. Just the big things like when you get gold, what you decide to build when, where you put your cities and what you set them to working, what you research, what you build, when you change from gold to research, when you take a city...
Okay, that sounds like a lot, but really shouldn't be that bad :)

Maybe I can do that for the first 60 turns, however I will try, but to do this again, sorry but it's hard to do every time :D
It's not really the luck, but you have to start with a good room at least and not cities with no food, no trees, etc..

I'm quite curious too Morte... I don't see how you can do all of that plus fend off lets say another horseman rusher. I think its very risky but pretty good.

Yeah, some games you just don't have room. I played 2 matches tonight.
In the first match I was the Germans, and I was pinned down by the French to a pretty small area, maybe enough room for 4 cities. I spotted them pretty early though, and sent a couple warrior armies, which got beaten by individual defending warriors (!). I had time to build a couple settlers and a couple more warrior armies, and then here comes the chinese player who had done a horsemen rush. He took Paris, killed my attacking armies and just ran me over. No room to expand, and no luck in the fights that game.
In the second game I was Rome, and lucky me, I ended up having a lot of extra room. Early on I ran into Egypt, very close, and was able to overrun Thebes easily with my first warrior army. I was cranking out settlers from Rome, and I had about 5 cities by the time Japan showed up with a couple horsemen armies. Rome was sort of in a chokepoint, so I'd put a couple archer armies there, and they took care of the Japanese horsemen. Meanwhile, I was expanding backward through a very long twisty continent. Japan had gotten ahead of me at first with tech, but eventually I got enough cities and libraries going that I passed him up. Was fun... maybe I'll write more details in another story topic.
If you get the room, you can do a big tech boom.

Well, you should create a new thread, but 7000 gold per turn in one city isn't one record. You could do that.
