I hope this is the right place to discuss game ideas. I don't see any sub threads that are appropriate. Anyways, I was just thinking it would be really cool that once your ship arrives at Alpha Centuri you start the game "over" in the sense that the colonists you've brought to Alpha Centuri become settlers and you start building a new civ in space. I have no idea if this game is capable of supporting expansion packs (not simply DLC) but the Alpha Centuri Expansion Pack sounds really good. The style of play would be similar just different land, units, etc. overlayed onto the existing engine and hooked into Civ Rev the way I described above. It would be great to arrive in Alpha Centuri, see a video clip similar to the game's opening sequence but based on the "New World" and then having the chance to play the game out again, but in space! The expansion pack could allow for play only on earth (Civ Rev), only in Alpha Centuri (Civ Space) or as an addon to Civ Rev that really puts new meaning in the words Expansion Pack.

Did you play the Firaxis game "Alpha Centauri"? Really good game. Plain Civ game, but with different layout. A whole new totaly amazing tech tree was brought into that game. Here is a link to the intro:

It's a cool idea you have, to continue your civ on Alpha planet, maybe you could bring things with you from earth to your new world, depending on how your civ made it on earth.

I've seen Alpha Centuri but never was able to pull myself away from Civ to play it. Now... if it could be incorporated into Civ Rev that would truly be great. I like your idea about bringing things up with you.

Just play the Beta Centauri scenario. The only difference is you can't play a regular game then play it and the units are the same.

There is no tech research in the Beta Centauri scenario, and the AI is ... the AI...

I truly recommend Alpha Centauri game, even though it's graphics maight be out of date. I recently played Civ II, it rocked as allways. The game is the game. It was fun to get granaries in all cities by building the pyramids.

In Alpha Centauri game you also have a whole new set of future "wonders", and the game ends with trancendation :D

So, the plan is, even if you loose to a econ vic. or culture vic. you can still play to launch your space ship, and you bring with you a certain amount of habitants for you first city, the techs you still lack you can research on Alpha Centauri planet. If you have enough culture, you'll have a free wonder. The money is useless ofcourse, but the amount of hammers you can produce sets the amount of energy (the new cash system) you start with... And the sooner you launch, the sooner you get there! ? :D If you have all the techs, you gett a bonus tech to start with.

Oh, almost forgott - "Alien" barbarians, "Predators", bounty hunters from other planets ;) Friendly barbarians huts too.

Yes! That's it! The scenerio in Civ Rev is not at all the same as what I described and MrLowcash has expanded on.

I had thought of this when I had first tried civrev. but now u had posted a quote on it! Just one thing to add, is on Alpha Centuri, you can send supplies from earth on more space ships. and as you get more technology, you can get new space ships and they go faster and can go to new planets. Aliens can attack you, and if you want to be a little more safe, you can have people live inside space ships. and if you want to capture an enemy spaceship, you can build certain parts and weaponry to attach to it and take it over or maker your 1 ship into 2. that was my Idea. :)

I always thought this would be a good idea - but probably for the PC

1) Civ is a full stand alone game, install it and play Civ
2) Alpha Centari is a full stand alone game, install it and play AC
3) If you buy and install both then you can play :-

a) Extended Civ - this games goes on past 2050 with a couple of more pages of tech tree with all the sci-fi stuff (not alien tech) from AC. Move the spaceship to the end when you can build warp drive etc. Or have the spaceship in the middle and building it gives you access to a special Alien tech tree and maybe the tech victory is when you build stargates at the end to get two way travel to AC

b) Super Civ - when you get to AC you start playing on both maps, whoever gets to AC first will get a head start - maybe have the option of putting earth on automatic which generates you a certain amount of resources each turn or you have to go back and forth like in Colinization.

Another option would be Colinization - Alpha Centari, paly Colinization but with sci-fi graphics.

And a final point, I think one of the final patches / addons for AC was an improved graphics pack. It wont be as good as todays graphics but probably better then the original AC ones.
