Is there a way to abandon or destroy my own settlements? I tried dragging the last colonist out to no avail.

A very sore point this.
There seems now to be an option that allows the destruction of captured colonies (though I haven't had the opportunity to test this), but we have lost the ability to close colonies as long as there was no stockade.
Sorry, I see no point in this loss. There are a number of good strategic reasons for opening small "temporary" colonies, which I have seen discussed somewhere else.

Sorry to double post.
I see elsewhere that Etherdeath, who is obviously more knowledgable than I will ever be, has shown how a particular problem can be resolved by editing the GlobalDefines.xml file.
Not something I would have the confidence to do without advice, but is it possible to adjust a setting in this file to reset the colony closing function??
