Think about it

Plot:
Splicing introduced. Side Effects slowly start creeping into daily life. Splice or Not to Splice. Ryan Vs Fontaine. Creation of Big Daddy's, little sisters and Jack.
A massive world map with unexplored area of rapture and best of all Sander Cohen recording the bunny man.

I have said for a long time that Bioshock's universe would be an amazing RPG.
Or an amazing sandbox game (a la GTA IV).
Or an amazing RTS game.
Or an amazing city building game.
It has an amazing amount of untapped potential. I can't wait for what is to come.

A RTS game, how would you see the battlefield, all they have is cramped up hallways, and you cant build anything, as teh the whole thing already is a city.
But a sandbox game with rpg elements ? YES YES YES

Naturally, creative liberties would have to be taken, but I just think it would be cool to have a strategy game based on the civil war. It may be not as natural a fit as the other examples I will grant you but I still think it could be cool. :)

I agree. Bioshock can be played in so many ways and STILL be great. :D

Lol. That is just hilarious..
Personally I would love a GTA style game but still keeping the same elements as the original. Sort of like Oblivion I guess, except.. more claustrophobic..
(did I spell that right?)

true that.
if Bioshock 2 was a RPG or any other thing than a RPG id be pissed.
with games with GTA, I can never stay on topic and do mission because its just too much fun going around and killing people. its just too amazing.
and i know i would do the same for Bioshock, RPGs i just think are boring.
im sorry to those RPG enthusiasts, but they blow.
the only way to play Bioshock is as a RPG.

Bioshock should remain a fps. You would lose all of the action and the excitement if you turned it into a rpg.

Seconded. Part of what I love about bioshock is the suspense, and although I do like a good RPG (or thirty :P) Bioshock wouldn't make a good RPG.
Unless they made the little sisters 16 year old fairies in skimpy outfits, Big daddies as dragons, jack with ridiculously spiky hair, and Ryan with all the evil and power of the cosmos.

Hey, let's not use sexual orientation as a negative, not cool. I would agree that Bioshock will probably have at it's roots an FPS lineage, but I don't think there is any reason that the universe can't be explored in other ways. It could be a great way to introduce the series to non-FPS fans. It wouldn't even have to be "Bioshock 2" or "Bioshock Zero" but a side game like Bioshock: Tales From Rapture or something.
In short, I think the universe has the potential to be everything to everybody.

Bioshock had elements of a RPG while still, in essence, being a FPS (such as the U-Invent, making plasmids, in-depth exploration etc.). I still think they could do the same with BS:2. Beautiful details of a historical rising city. Incorporate the audio diary collecting again...
I think it will be great.

Yeah, FPS with elements of RPG (in my opinion), is the future of gaming. Bioshock is just right...although they could put a few more elements of RPG in.
