I think this is ludicrous I know some don't care but I read all the threads and they're are many who do. Criterion has just moved there development team to it after almost a year of the game being out and it looks like they will be done them in under 2 weeks. This is from they're official site. If they can do it after a year of the game being out when it only costs $30 now why can't you guys. I don't want any more of the lame excuses I have spent countless dollars on this franchise SINCE day one I'm not some whiny kid (sorry if that offends anyone) I'm a long time civ gamer who had the original Civ and everyone there after and feel I have a valid case to not purchase this game without trophies. I couldn't care less about new wonders and I have read many people feel the same way. I'm sure some enjoy them but I would put money on the fact that the majority lean towards trophies. I'm not some trophy ***** I just love the added challenge.

Anyways I know there are many that don't care about trophies as well but this is the perfect game for trophies in my opinion and I believe I even read that Sony will help patch games. on top of that you now have experience programing for them with Bioshock which although is not my type of game your support for the PS3 in this franchise and the HOME and trophy support has enticed me to most likely give this a try as well as the huge fan following.

Anyways I love civ and really want to play it but I'm taking this stubborn stance and I won't change my mind until you support this long time fans request.

I'm with you all the way on this, but I can see this getting closed because of the other trophy thread.

Also, I'm pretty sure Firaxis didn't develop Bioshock, they just share the same publisher. Development and publishing are totally separate.

Trophies definitely add a lot to a title, and at this stage of their lifespan certainly sell games. Most people on my friends list would choose a lower quality game with trophies over another game without.

But it all boils down to money... Firaxis staff are scheduled for work that is tied into the projected budget, and in addition, the PS3 market is worth less than the 360 market.

Both Criterion (Burnout developers) and Firaxis are developers that care about their products (despite the accusations you might read on these forums), but Criterion have the comfortable financial support of having sold Renderware to everyone that bought it for PS2 games, so can probably afford to allocate some staff to trophies, motorbikes and all the other groovy stuff we've had and coming soon to Burnout.

Also, Criterion's primary platforms are Sony's and they take great pride in utilising the hardware to it's capacity, whereas, as far as I can gather Firaxis are just moving to consoles from PC, so the 2 companies are at very different points in the learning curve.

It would be really nice if Firaxis managed to squeeze trophies in during some down-time between projects, but for them to publicly promise to get trophies in would probably be PR suicide for poor Elizabeth, and the company in general...

Nothing would make me happier than trophies in CivRev, but I can realistically see why it's certainly not promised or announced and also unlikely to be :(

If you are refusing to buy this game simply because it doesn't have trophies I think you really are cutting your nose off to spite your face. It's a great game as is, and will get better when the next patch arrives that hopefully addresses a load of the current issues. Individual capital matyrdom is like trying to steer a river with a pebble in this instance...

You are absolutely correct. Not putting in trophies was a huge design blunder by 2K. They certainly could have put in in-game achievements like other games did over a year before this game came out, instead of blaming Sony. Since they already put them in the XBox, it would have taken a pretty basic design pattern to provide in-game achievements for the PS3. And would have simplified the transition to trophies. There really is no excuse for it.

But from what I have seen with the many bugs and the amount of time it takes them to fix them, and all the problems that happened with a basic DLC release that obviously was not tested very well, combined with the fact that they said they weren't going to do them, I wouldn't count on it. And based on their past performance, it would likely be buggy and not tested very well anyway. Sorry guys. Just call 'em like I see 'em.

I agree with this but at the same token I have played and invested in all the civ's and don't feel it is in my best interest to put even more funds into this because of this and the below buginess that I have read. I don't know if they just assumed this would make them some quick money and felt they could just slap it together and walk.

The hole thing is just disconserting.

I have other games etc. that are keeping me entertained so I'm not going to invest in this without trophies because I would like to support developers like criterion who are really working hard for my money. I don't feel this is the case here and not JUST for the reason I mension above this just hapens to be the one I want to fight as it seems people have stoped fighting it. So be it it may be a lost cause but if I don't say anything there will be even less chance of anything happening.

I have read quite a bit about these bugs and it is quite sad that they are putting their clients thru this it would have been beter to delay the game a little perhaps and fix this and throw in trophies they probably would have reaped the benefits. It seems in their success they have lost the balence between being good developers with great ideas and being a company.

I could be wrong but these coments make me feel they have starting running things too much like a company.
