if you mean from the in-game xmb, i totally agree. xbox can do that with any game but for some reason the ps3 game has to support it and currently none do. i'd love to see that in some way in bioshock, although i hear that the sound in this game is already amazing

I am too distracted by your Jade Raymond to logically approach this discussion with any semblance of knowledge...
...uh.
Seriously though, the sound design was great in this game. I don't think I could imagine Rapture without the ambience and/or external soundtrack pounding through. It truly does make the game something special so why not give it a go first before thinking about masking it with the likes of whatever band you are fond of.

I know that Sony does not REQUIRE custom soundtracks on all games (yet), and since BioShock is a game that is heavily focused on ambience and mood I don't think it's a priority for the devs. As such, I doubt the feature will be put in, but who knows, they could throw it in if it's not too much work...

I would exchange trophys for custom in game music. If this game won't support custom in game music im not getting it.

I'd rather they put in worthwile additions such as new enemies, graphics etc

That's ridiculous, the music is one of the components that makes the game so fantastic, putting in yourown music will just kill the atmosphere, I even used Bioshock to make this very point on my ultimately-not-very-good gaming blog (http://whitenoisetv.blogspot.com/2008/03/custom-game-soundtracks.html).

I think the guy above has a point.
IMO, custom soudtracks are good for racing games, sports games, or any of those arcade style games.
I just fear that with this option available developers will put less effort in the sound of their games.

Hasn't it been clearly stated that they aren't going to work on improving the graphics? So, I assume that if the graphics aren't going to change, there also won't be any newer enemies. At least, not to the main story

Wow. Really? You would pass on the game just because you can't listen to your own music? Wow. Just wow.

Dude, that is a very small reason to not buy a game. Being able to put your own music in would be terrible. Fighting a Big Daddy to Pantera would not be the same..

I have to agree I was playing Condemned on my Xbox 360 and I had a shuffle of music in the background, I was in the department store using a mannequin arm to attack some very scary enemies. When "The Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian" started playing it went from scary to comedy really quickly. Whats even worse is I had that song on my computer in the first place.

My sentiments exactly...this goes hand-in-hand with folks not picking up a new PS3/PSN release because it doesn't support Trophies. I mean seriously...is this what it's come to?

ROTFL! That is frickin awesome. Now all you need is some Journey, Peter Cetera, The Go-Gos, and Wham and Condemned would be a totally different game.
