An Expansion?

I'm a bit confused. Is Colonization an expansion or a stand alone game? Does it add content to the core game?

It's a standalone and an expansion! Hopefully the price point will be more like an expansion than a full game.

Well it says it's an expansion but all the details I've read so far sound as if it's just a stand alone game, including a new game engine. I've not read anything about how it "expands" the game. I will probably buy it either way. I am just curious.

It's a standalone expansion, they call it an expansion because it still uses the CiV 4 engine and a few other things from it, plus most likely the price of it as well. Otherwise it is pretty much standalone and you won't need CiV 4 to play it.
