Bioshock New Opening movie? [Archive]

I thought that was the movie we got to watch during the install.

2K Liz said it will play during install. The movie itself is said to be about six minutes long, and the installation time may be that long or longer. Her post is on the bottom of this page. (http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=312363#post312363)

no Liz never said what the movie would show, she just confirmed that it would be a movie of some sort

That should be interesting. Some parts of it showing life before the war would be cool, should be interesting to see what 2K have up their sleeve...

I think it's a good guess. We already know that any additions won't change the main story (hence the Challenge Rooms being accessed from the main menu), so the options for an extra few minutes of video are limited. They can't show you much about Rapture as it is now, because that would give away the gameplay. Even showing it during its heyday would have to be careful so as not to give away the plot---remember: learning what happened and how it happened is a big part of the story.

Maybe it could show Ryan's initial pitch for the city, or show him gathering the first of the "elite" to join him down below. It could even show construction (that would be cool!). Neither of those would impact the audio diaries.

I look forward to seeing all the new content on Youtube 10 minutes after the first copy is sold. LOL!

So are you saying there will be a movie but just not during installation? Personally I would prefer if they just showed it in the begining of the game...//

I'm betting you will be able to watch it again after the install. But Liz did say that it would play during the install process.

I would think so. It would be pretty lame to make it only viewable once after taking all the time to make it.

I wonder what'll show on the video. I mean 2K said they don't want to change the story of bioshock, and the don't want to give anything away for Bioshock 2. Bu maybe they can show everything in it's Hey-Day and all the chracters you get to meet, and maybe construction of Rapture as mentioned earlier in the post.....but I can't wait to see it....//

it'll probably just be a montage of gameplay footage and music or something boring to get you through the installation.

Nope. She said there will be an installation and indicated it won't be one of the longest ones. She said there will be a video that will play while the game installs.

I still can't find the post!

its not a big secret, its just not common for a dev team to come out and tell us what you see on the screen while the game is installing before the game has come out.

Well I sent a PM to 2K Liz and asked if the video during install will be somthing new, and she said this:

there is a 5:24 minute video that plays during installation, but i never said what that video will be. you'll have to wait to find that out. :-)

Again if it's just re-hashed gameplay wouldn't she be able and just say it, instead of being so huhsh, hush?

yeah ive got the ps3 version, its just a slide show, showing various posters and products littered about Rapture. nothing adding to the story or anything entertaining. it loops twice while the install progresses, takes 12 mins. i walked off while it installed and made some noodles

Now if we'd had that on the PC though, maybe we could have got some higher res, unaffected by lighting versions of some posters and stuff!

Anyone wanna sit there with a digital camera so we can see anyway what all was shown?
