Will Bioshock need a install on the PS3?

cause I don't want it to and one site has already reported that the game will have a 5 min install :( we don't need an Install to run bioshock if it's true can you just post something to answer this question? Please 2k team! thanks

Why would you not want a 5min install to make the run run a ton better than the 360 version? The 360 version has terrible popup textures and everything is a muddy mess whenever you first enter a new room.

If 5 mins of my life could solve this crap, i would do it. What is wrong with you?

also, that article you linked is garbage. If it has an install, it wont be 24 mins. The source for that article shows it being a 5 and a half min install.

One of the advantages of the PS3 hardware from a developer's standpoint is that it includes a hard drive by default. As you may know, hard disk drives are generally much faster to read data from than DVDs or Blu-Ray Discs, and also faster to write data to.

So of course we want to take advantage of the fact and install our commonly-used files to the hard drive to cut down on loading, saving, and streaming times.

So long answer short, there will be an install process for BioShock on the PS3 :-)

That is both good and bad IMO. Good on the more fluid game experience with a cut-down on loading times, but bad that when the disc is put in, you can't just play it. I always thought that the instant play thing was a nice advantage for consoles, but that sort of is gone here.

Oh well, it is appreciated and surely should make a better experience in the long run.

basically, what's going on is that there is a movie that is 5:24 minutes long that can play during install. however, this is not necessarily the install length. i can tell you the install will NOT be 24 minutes long, however, i can't give you an exact time yet because we're still finishing up developing the game, and until we're done optimizing and tweaking, we won't know the exact length.

but rest assured, it won't be 24 minutes, it will be less than that.

like to pass by while the game is installing a video clip or clips will play while the game is installing.
