View Full Version : End of Game Problems

I truly enjoy playing this game. I haven't had too many problems with bugs as other on here have had. I do however think you guys really dropped the ball with the end of the game information.

There is no true score given in the game. I read somewhere on here that when going for a tech victory that the more settlers you have when you get to Alpha Centuria the better your score. Giving reason to build more habitat modules. this is nice but where is this score reflected. As it is now there is no reason to build anything more that what will get the ship there before 2100.

What is the deal with rank and how is it calculated. Sometimes I play the same game from a save and will be above Winston Churchill and sometime not. Also why is Winston Churchill the highest rank he isn't even in the game. There isn't any explanation of this statistic any where.

the histograph is a joke. I have looked all over this forum for any information explaining the symbols and there is no info on this any where. It is almost like you guys forgot to finish the histograph.

The stats are also a joke. Stats should be displayed on their own in an easier to read fashion. Scrolling them with credits takes forever and they often repeat insignificant stats before showing new stats.

Why is there no option to look at the map at the end of the game like all other strategy games?

I truly hope you do something about this stuff in a patch. It appears you guys neglected the end of game information in a big way. All other Civs and strategy games in general present the player with many stats, time lines, graphs, and scores so we can see how we did and how we could improve our strategy.

I hope someone reads this that actually cares what the people who pay for your products has to say.

Thanks

I have the DS version of this game, and everything you said is good enough for me. The ending statistics of each game gives plenty of information, and something you seemed to have forgotten is that this is a very basic version of Civilization Revolution game. There are not a bunch of in depth features for the game. Considering the console versions, are the same as the hand helds, I can give say in this little problem of yours. If you want all the problems you have fixed, you can always just go by a PC version of Civilization, its that simple. Yea I wish there were more things in Civ Rev, but there simply is not, sure there might be sometime, but for now, quit complaining, and enjoy the game.

I support improvements in the mentioned areas, shouldn't be hard via a patch hopefully.

The Histograph is there but can any one say what the symbols mean or why they are only at the start of the histograph and why they all line up?

the stats are there but does any one actually read more than the first few lines. It would have been very easy to scroll stats on one side and credits on the other side of the screen.

Rank is there but what does it mean?

Score is there but it isn't reflected at the end of the game.

Everything I said and would like fixed is in the game. It just appears they forgot to finish this part of the game.

Why should I have to buy another game to get the information that is in this game. From the way you are saying it and they way it is presented it is like they are saying console players are not worth the effort of providing this information.

My only hope is that they had to limit the initial release of the game because of the limitations of the DS and they will patch all this stuff for the console players.

I am not asking for anything that isn't there I am just asking for it to work, be fixed, or at least explained.

By the way it is a funny coincidence that after hitting submit on the first post in this thread and after hitting submit on my reply a commercial for the game appeared on my TV at that exact same time.

Yea even though the console versions are seeming to have lots of problems, your right, they can all be fixed by a patch assuming 2k will make the effort to do this. Now the DS version can not be updated, so its the same now, as it ever will be, so consider yourself lucky. Perhaps they worked on the DS version more than the console, for that exact reason, who knows. But honestly, I would expect it to be fixed with a patch.

I would tend to agree with you. I hit the 2100 AD limit (won't go into that) and figured I was going to win as it showed me gold on two victory conditions (Tech and Culture). I seriously doubted I was going to win it before the time limit, but I thought, going from the stats, that I'd win it.

Naturally the limit comes, and I lose. Shows me dead last. Uhm, ok, how did it determine that? I don't know. Tried looking at endgame info and nada, nothing there.. I mean, the histogram sorta shows how you did throughout the game, but...if you want any useful information out of it you're not going to get it.

Again, tis frustrating.

I heard it adds up all four victory condition progress bars and whoever ends up with the longest total bar wins.

I don't think that's the case. I think they calculate a score based on several factors, including cities, population, units, buildings/wonders, etc.

If you do well on the victory conditions, that would of course help. I think there are other things that also count, though.

You guys are just emphasizing my point it's all speculation because it isn't documented any where and no one from 2K has elaborated on any of these stats.

I agree with you. The end game doesn't make much sense to me either. Right now I'm really hoping they'll be able to fix the PS3 multiplayer issues instead, though.

Nevermind the score, the time limit still is a big joke.

they just made the ai run on early 198x standart with this if-then calculations to put it on the board for ds. do you really think they patch the endgame stats? 2k state they read every thread on this board and the question what this swords and stars refer to isnt answered anywhere although it gets up in many threads.
just told 2 friends not to buy this piece of chunk until there are improvements in game calculations or at least in showing some stats to work with.
nevermind the broken multiplayer on ps3 which could make the game to be played more then then 2 days.

You know ive been on the forums since launch and ive never seen a histogram question ever answered. I'm starting to think no one knows what the symbols stand for, either that or it just dont work ;)

Trying to keep on topic I understand there are other problems. The time limit has been discussed and they have given the reason for it and that topic was closed. I know a lot of people don't agree with it but there is a reason for it according to 2K and that is not what this thread is about. The multiplayer issues have also been discussed in great detail and I am sure that would hopefully be the number one fix they are working on. This topic isn't about a playable bug. The game is still completely playable with or with out stats and I understand that, other issues aside of course, it just seems they forgot to finish the stats part of the game and I am just asking if they plan to finish it or at least explain what is in the game now.

just wanted to add a "me too" to this thought...end-game stats are nearly, if not completely, useless. Slip, thanks for responding to my other post on this topic and pointing me to this one...

You would think someone at 2k would have the answers to these questions about stats, and that it would be quite simple to give. I don't understand why it needs to be a big secret.

Just wanted to add one more voice to your point. The post-game info/stats are basically non-existant. I'm a stat junky too, so this is a major bummer. Very disappointed with the end game info and the lack of a private multiplayer game save feature. Other than these two issues this game is fantastic.

I agree I want more end game stats and the histograph is a joke.

#1 thing to do is separate the credits from the end-game stats. I'm sure they thought it was a clever way to make us sit through the credits and see who made the game but i watched the whole thing once and i'm never doing it again. I'd still like to get my stats, though...

Call me naive, but I actually assumed, the first time I got the stats/credits roll when I beat the demo, that they would only force me to sit through that stuff once and the next time they would just give me my stats. Boy, do I feel stupid now...

Does it actually end? I watched it for a long time and it seems like I started seeing stuff I had already seen before? What happens at the end?
