i'm new here, so i dont know if this has been asked yet.
I would like to know if there will be legs when you look down, like in halo or turok. it may not seem like have visible legs are that important, but it adds a great amount of polish to the game. i personally was disapointed with the lake of legs in the 360 / pc version.
also, wouldn't it be awsome if there was legs, and the pants would get darker and shiny when you go into the water as if they were wet, but the would only get wet up the where the water level was on the pants. that is easily possible on the ps3.
what do you think?

I think it's an interesting idea, but I also think the legs in Halo 3 looked terrible. They just seemed to float right above the ground whenever I looked down. It didn't seem to me like I was actually standing on whatever surface I was on. And while I'll admit it's been awhile since I played Halo 3 (like 6 months easy) I don't remember the legs ever moving. They always seemed to be in the same pose when I looked down. But yeah, cool idea, just not something that should be done unless it's done completely (and that's alot of extra work)

i dont think that it would be very important, but it would add more realisticness to it

So......the absolutely mind-blowing city design and story didn't make the game seem "polished".....but being able to look down at your feet would have put it over the goal line, eh?
Wow.
Just....wow.

They did it well in the darkness why not here, my only concern is that it wouldn't suit the game, i don't know why but i'm not so sure about it.

Funny response, but I understand what the OP means I suppose...

If its something that we would really need. I really don't think that they need to use the processing power to show legs and changes in moisture levels of said legs. Whatever they decide to do I don't think its worth getting up in arms about.:D I constantly amuse myself.

Can something so silly make an entire game seem...disapointing? I see where your coming from (I got over the fact that there were no legs) but I think if they tried to make legs it would make you more disapointed. Whenever an fps attempts to make legs they look a tad silly. But who knows. I hardly ever look down anyways, and I doubt you do. I noticed that I had no legs three weeks ago (I looked down when my mouse fell off the desk).

what i mean is that the fps genre came to be known in the early 1990's, thats almost 20 years ago, 15 at least. You should think that full body or at least legged characters should be a standard by now. i've realized that this is not a brand new game, and more like a remake type thing, but new games should come with standard legs. i mean, you can see your arms and hands can't you?
omg... can't you?

OMG! I totally missed the lake full of legs!
Sorry. I know, lack of legs.
Anyways, now that I have thought about it, I don't want legs unless they can make them realistic.

He has a point though. As I said in my previous post I don't even look down at my feet. It is very silly that anybody would find a game disapointing because you cannot see your feet.
Honestly. In real life, sure it matters if you see your feet. But in a game you move with a joystick. It would be a waste of the developers time to make feet. I believe people would dislike the game more if there were, have you seen the feet on Halo 3??

I hear you, but I remember playing the first Doom, and I remember what the graphics looked like. :D
As others have pointed out, nobody has figured out how to make realistic legs. Especially as you walk over uneven surfaces. Can you imagine the computing power and programming required to make feet and legs that realistically move over every surface---at that time, money and effort put into a game feature that the majority of people would never notice (or care about if they did notice)?
So the alternative would be to make unrealistic legs. Or at least legs that are far less realistic compared to the rest of the environment and character models. I would find that a detriment. A jarring glitch if you will. But that's just me.
Personally, I find that it helps my immersion. We aren't actually in the game world, so designers make some concessions. The targeting reticule is a perfect example. You wouldn't really have that in front of your face, but it helps you compensate. Likewise, if I'm exploring the ground for something, I don't want half my screen blocked by a pair of pants. That would get boring rather quickly. I assume that if I really bent down to look at the ground, I'd put my legs behind me. Not swivel down at the hip and see myself. :)
To each their own. And I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a feature. But its a design choice and not a lack of "polish". That makes it sound like they didn't have enough time or skill to complete the game, whereas the reality is they left out a feature that would have likely hurt the game. Big difference.

Ah, so you were talking about me. I wasn't sure.
You'll find I never give offense unless others have offended me, first. And as I tried to explain, the OP got a slightly negative response from me (and others) because he indicated that the game was "unpolished" and "disappointing" without a feature that many of us think is unneeded in the first place. It's all about wording, you see.
In retrospect, I suppose the OP just chose his words poorly. Saying a game could be better with a certain feature is far different from saying it is poor without it. Do you see now? ;)

Makes me wonder what kind of shoes Jack was wearing. And for that matter why no squishy shoe sounds after walking through so much water?

I'm probably the only person who finds so-called "fully body immersion" distracting. There's a possibility that the developers felt the same way, though. I don't think you can expect to see significant changes to the main game on the PlayStation 3, either.
