Playing the Demo

I've been playing the demo daily in anticipation of the release here in the US. For three days in a row my maps NEVER changed (whereas before that the maps and my initial location on the maps would change). Then TODAY (monday, July 7) all my maps changed! AND gems could be found on the mountains AND I found the Lost City of Gold! I was SO happy and excited, but my question is this:
Do the Demo maps depend on something like the "Game of the Week"? I checked out the GOTW map and it looked NOTHING like the one I played on.

demo maps change each week. Within the week things are slightly different depending on which civ you are and what difficulty.
