How are stats will be handled in Bioshock? Will it be similar to SS2 where you have a form of currency which can be spent to enhance the stats, or will it be along the lines of where a specific type of passive plasmid is equipped and then enhances one of your stats

I dont think we will be seeing 'stats' as this is a Shooter,Shooter 2.0 according to Ken.

As genres are meant mainly for critics, marketing, and people who need clearly defined parameters, a "shooter" is open to interpretation. You could say, and many do, that System Shock 2 is a FPS, yet it had stats. The same goes for Deus Ex.
But on the other hand some people classify these as RPGs, and others even say that they are FPRPGs (First Person Role Playing Games). This is why I don't like to put games in pre-set genres, as it now is so ingrained that it means that many people expect certain things from games in these genres. The best example of this is how when it was released that Bioshock won't have a multiplayer mode in it, they were saying things like "oh my god, this game will be insta-fail", but I digress.

One thing I'm worried about is if a maximum health increase requires a plasmid to be constantly equipped. I'd like to see an increase that didn't require a constant plasmid.

If there is a health plasmid, I would prefer if it's possible to make that plasmid more powerful, or equip tons of health plasmids at once. Which makes me think about how many plasmids you can equip at once.

Maybe types of “special” plasmi-quiks hidden around rapture mutate you to be able to equip more plasmids at once. It would be awesome if each new plasmid slot you gained would make your character look more mutated.

At most, wishful thinking makes me that the fully leveled health plasmid and maybe even the "plasmid energy increasing" plasmid to give you god-like maximum health and energy, and maybe even a slight health and energy regeneration.

it is a spiritual sucsessor to SS2 so I would say that it has stats in some form or another. stats seem to be much more popular for non-rpgs, we seem to be experienceing a blurring of the line between RPGs and shooters

Im pretty well expecting a stats system with at least a passing resemblance to that in Shock 2. Not that it wouldnt be nice if they tried something new and interesting for stat development, but I dont expect it.
We may have to wait until release to see the full extent of Shock 2's influence on this games mechanics. Its obvious the two games share some common threads, but will Bioshock surpass its forebare in every aspect of gameplay? Only Questions right now, I cant wait to find out for myself.
