Yes, and it is also for other technologies as Bronze Working; there are other techs that don't give nothing but it's not the same thing, however i remember for example ceremonial burial, alphabet, pottery

i think the fact that the tier one techs dont get bonuses was intentionall. this would explain why hbr, bronze, alphabet, and pottery dont give bonuses. think about it. if they did give bonuses, then the 1st 4 turns of the game you would max out science to get the bonus(if you were smart). this would make it so that it is relatively likely that 2 civs would finish the same tech in the same turn. they can do this with the tier 2 techs and above because of the fact that there is a much less probability that 2 civs would complete the same tech in the same turn due to the fact that there are more techs available to research and the differences in amount of science produced.
the only glitch is that ceramonial burial is the only tier 2 tech that doesnt give a bonus.

ok. but i think it's strange that it says in civilipedia that you should get a free horseman/archer and you don't.

Keep in mind that certain civs begin the game with certain techs as their civ bonus. If you are playing against that civ, there is no way to get the first-to-discover bonus for that tech.

dude(s) listen to what he said.... the civilpedia says it. I think Firaxis needs to patch that then. I'd let them know.

It is not a glich, i answer you and now you go for all the forum saying it is a glitch. These techs don't give you nothing, it is a bug to be fixed in the civilopedia

Firstly are you sure your the first to discover it? If so, do you get anything? If not then the CivPedia lies.

Secondly the Tanks and Catapults healing is not a glitch. If they lose TWO of their units then they'll be brought down by one health, if they lose ONE then they're not down by any health. It's the fact that you start with only 'one' of these units rather than three.

Warriors start with three 'warriors' in each unit. Now if you build an army, and you lose just the ONE warrior of the 9 that you have, when you win, you'll still have 9, if however you lose TWO of these warriors, you'll go down to 6 and have to heal to get THREE of your warriors back.

It's sort of a balancing act if anything. Makes it harder for you to lose your Catapults and Tanks, so you can plan your strategies accordingly. However with that said, I've lost Catapults (when attacking) to units that have a very measily defense, just because they managed to get the first hit in and destroy my one and only Catapult.
