I don't know really I never really played a Civilization Game until I played the demo of Civilization Revolution on Xbox Live. I do like the Romans because I love Rome and it's History. But I am looking forward to play as China and Japan. Maybe Germany because of there Nation's bonus. I really can't don't know until I play as them...What about you Spike517? Who do you like and why?

What is your favorite civilization?

I've played full games as England, Japan, Zulu, Mongols and France. So far, I like Zulu and the Mongols best.

My favourite Civilization is China (strategy i used are exactly the opposite of Rome megacity :p )

Now looking into alternative civ because abit bored with China....tried Russian yesterday, seems like a good race for megacity + culture.

English, even though I don't have the full game, I like the english(even in previous versions). I think the english are underrated in domination victories cause they get knights quickly(start with monarchy and research horseback riding+burial to get feudilism),also the english also get +1 archer defense, also they have +1 naval combat and even naval support doubled(which is great for seiges late game). I also like the english because they have a rich history, I mean they pretty much occupied a lot of lands in the world in the 1600-1800's.

Try Japan PrivateJohn. I haven't tried them yet since I don't have the full game but I do like the Japanesse's bonus and I like the Tokugawa and it's history. It all depends on you but I recommend them none the less.

Just look at the Japanese stats again, hmm...perhaps you are right. I think Japanese is the alternative I am looking for, reason why i opt for Russian because of the +1 food from plain but it require alot of luck. Although the loyalty come abit late for Japanese but, it will do:)

Thanks, gona try it later

I think it is not so good, because you can't grow while you research at the beginning, if you have to grow you have to do it fast and you have to expand, build units, defences, settlers.. In 3 games vs japanese in head to head i have won, in the first one was taken by barbarians, and others two i have taken very easy their cities. It is not a great advantage, i prefere greeks, they are better for the start, more great people, 1/2 cost of libraries, and +1 from the sea on the modern era. You could say it depend on the player, but i think it doesn't depend, japan isn't so good

I would challenge you only to make you know that civ isn't the best. However if you want can you tell me your GT if you are on the 360? Spain are good to take gold maybe at the beginning

I know, but i don't want to see that a civ is the best when maybe he plays on chieftain (it is an example). It is because i haven't seen in top20 spanish, and i haven't seen yet one that using spain has won the game. In my last game vs spanish i killed him very fast and easy

Morte...isn't it good that you see more variety playing the games online.
If everyone start playing Arabian....Civ Rev will be bored fest:D
I will check out Japanese later, if i find it ok i will train it up and play some game with you & test it out.

Mongols sound pretty awesome to me. Although I do not have the full game yet I plan on using them first. I have read their perks and think that thier Barbarians join us perk is awesome fo building up army early in the game because you will get so many citys to produce from.

MorteEterna: The fact that you could beat them using the arabs isn't saying anything about the civ they are using (unless you also say that you are a crappy player, and I haven't gotten that impression).

I like all of the civilizations :) Except maybe Rome, but thats probably only because I'm bored of all the Rome-talk on the forum.

Honestly mate, the barbarian city bonus is not that great. The barbarian encampments are usually on top of resources, essentally destroying them when the city gets built, and they are also usually in really bad places. Like, with no food generating tiles around them etc.

Oooo, really? I'll have to rethink my strategy then....maybe Japan, but I'll have to look at their bonuses

Saying spam is spam, then repeating what youve said already is, in itself, spam. Anyways, he is saying they a 'beast' because he might play really well with them. This thread is all about what youre favorite civ is and all youve done is say that people are wrong and those civs are horrible.

I have my experience and i have never seen these civs so strong as he is saying now, so why is he saying that? Some civs are really horrible because are useless. Spanish don't get nothing to kill the enemies fast, and get a economic victory with a little bonus is not possible. It helps but i don't think it is a great civ

Well, considering the thread is about who people like the most, it doesn't matter what your experience tells you. If someones favorite is the spanish, then let them keep it as their favorite.

And even if you haven't seen someone play spanish to it's true strengths, that doesn't mean that it necessarily is horrible.
For the spanish I belive early exploration and +50% gold must be great towards lots of victories. In addition, they are hard to conquer due to better production and naval strength.

I'm not a big fan of spain myself, but that doesn't mean that they are bad.

Agree. Morte, you shouldn't stop people from posting their opinion. Like i said earlier, i would love to see the variety on multiplayer.

Anyhow Spain could be useful, i always thought their early access to Galleon could prove useful if we can plan an ancient/medieval attack from the sea. +4 naval support is something to be reckon with.

Just maybe, they can pour all the gold into making a bunch of army & galleons in ancient era. It's do or die.

in case you havent noticed, morte, this is not a militarty RTS. there are more ways to win than domination. just because you feel the need to inscesantly spam horseman armies does not mean that it is the only or the best way to win. just because you havent encountered any one that knows how to use spain to thier full potential does not mean it is it is "really horrible because are useless".(sorry about his english).

Can you stop saying my english is bad? I'm not english and i haven't studied it for 1000 years. However i wanted to say they are horrible because they haven't some great bonuses, so they are useless. The best way to win is the easiest and that strategy that is faster than others. I'm not stopping your opinions but i don't want to see that Spain is a beast when nobody for example in top 10 has used that. Could you tell me your name for a only challenge? To see if your strategy work, no personal attacks

aztecs are always fun with their starting gold and auto heal.

You tend to be the first one out with warriors as you can rush your first.

You can also kill barbarians without having to wait turns to heal, so you can accumulate gold quickly and get a settler and maybe even currency.

After you get to the modern era the gold production bonus is also really nice.

So far, i really like the americans. In the late game, with their production bonuses, they can make a city where wonders are built in one or two turns and you can make two or three armies of anything in just one turn. But, again, thats only late game, and i dont know how well that would work in the highest difficulties...

Domination: Aztecs (fast win), french (mid win), germans (long win)
Culture: Roman or egyptians
Economy: Spanish
Tech: Chinese

I've only had the game for two days, so I may change my mind! As of now tho, Spanish is my favorite.

i like england for ffa. no one rushes me at the beginning cause my longbows scare them away to somwhere else. im also pretty confident that i can become more tech advanced than my opponent by late game. i use naval support for pretty much all my attacks in the game so doubled naval support is perfect for me, and so is the extra naval combat stats. i enjoy the game alot more when i play as them as i find zulu and arab rushing very boring, and rome a little unfair. i will definatly get england into the ffa top ten as soon as i have enough time to play.

I like Americans, English, Zulu, and Japanese to name a few. I think Chinese, French, and Arabs will be my next to try out.

But more importantly, I don't like Mongols (too little control over where the cities appear, waste of resources), Romans (I prefer many cities over 1 mega-city), or Indians (Gandhi as an enemy loves to fight so much, it is like giving Mother Teresa a tank and making her run over impoverished children).
